I was listening to the JJ Redick podcast with Jalen Brunson (great episode btw, Jalen really good dude) and Redick was talking about the importance of the training staff. How basically players became very attached to their training/medical staff people because they are always working with them, getting taped/iced/etc.

When Donovan Mitchell got Mike Elliot fired that probably caused a significant ripple across the day to day personnel on the medical/training staff. When I thought of the negative affects from that I just initially thought about how Donovan caused Joe Ingles to tear his ACL, but now I know he caused that and everyone to be generally pissy because the guys they liked so much got fired by Donovan.

JJ goes onto say that training staffs are one of the most underrated aspect of a good culture.

Donovan really ****ed our whole culture.

I'm guessing they cared more about him dogging it on defense and not passing the ball.
In a workplace these interpersonal relationships are extraordinarily important to if your average day is positive and rewarding or if it is a drag and feels like a prison.

Basketball players are playing in actual basketball games a fraction of the amount of time they are at team facilities for all sorts of things, training/practicing being just one of them. There is also all the time they spend traveling and then all the time when they have down time while on the road and who they are spending all that time with.

I'm fairly confident to say that the extra mileage of going to the olympics were much more important than bet that we got incompetent staff.

Being responsible for a broken locker room leaving the team unable to proper rest it's players would be a more feasible argument (but still some way of a stretch for me)

I guess it's possible the change in training staff made that big of a difference in the culture, but I think there are some pretty big leaps in the OP (which I assumed were hyperbole for entertainment value).

Man people are not getting the OP at all.

They seem to think that their fan perspective is the same perspective that a player has as a human. Like competition, team winning, the stuff that is on TV is their entire universe. Like players get stuffed into a ****ing cryo chamber between public appearances.

HOT NEWS! NBA Players are human beings who have lives outside their public interactions.

At least listen to the OP and the link before saying it was because he didn't play defense or that people weren't rested.

Have you ever had a close work friend? Have you ever had your close work friend fired because another coworker reported them to HR for some BS?

You just hit reset and go on with your day the very next day and it has no effect on you because your some kind of ****ing robot?
