Exum Update

Can we bring the Exum expectations back to earth? Let's start by hoping he becomes a decent rotation player.
Agree. And that's why I think Lindsey needs to either decide to re-sign Hood or find a comparable wing replacement. We can't count on Dante becoming a starter, Rubio becoming Steph Curry, O'Neale to become Wes Matthews and Ingles to find the fountain of youth.

As opposed to Exum, who went into hibernation mode some games. He would have 18 minutes and complete 0s across his box score. If you didn't know better, would think those minutes were an error and he received a DNP-coaches decision.

Good observation. Could it be he was still wary of trying to quickly move laterally? Probably didn't trust his knee.
yeah for sure, laterally he was nothing like year 1. Rookie year his lateral and recovery movement was unreal.

i hope you're happy to acknowledge improvements as/if they become evident. Agree with the team d stuff tho, which was weird as he didn't seem to have those issues in year 1 His D was nowhere near what it was in year 1.
His defense was starting to look good towards the end of the year. He was not 100% back until close to the end of the year. You could see in pre-season this year that he was all the way recovered. The same could be said of his jump shot that he completely reworked while he was out. It was inconsistent early and got better in the second half. By the time preseason rolled around you could see his shot was much more fluid and he was much more confident in it.

Attacking the rim and these silly made up arguments that he is mentally weak are just that, silly. He cares a lot about winning and deferred a lot as a rookie to better players, that is why the Jazz were so good during that time period. He tries to stay within what he can do, fortunately what he can do is greatly expanding.

It will be fun to watch his haters react to him later. There is a good reason Snyder and the Jazz FO are so high on him!

But frankly there is no argument for or against him right now that matters, we just need to get him back and see what he can do. I dont expect to much this year but I expect next year for him to really take off.

All these haters of Exum here ...... out one side of their mouths comes how Snyder is this great coach and DL knows his sh*t and then trash on Exum when Snyder and the front office are so high on him.

Well, there's PLAYER A who can't recover in time but seems to know what he's supposed to do; and then there's PLAYER B who doesn't seem to know where he's supposed to be. After his first year, I think Exum looked like the latter quite a few times. Just saying.

I mean, I'm going to keep my hopes up anyway.... because why the hell not?

because we don't have all that many alternatives

I expected Dante to play 20 to 25 minutes this year and average btw 10 and 12 points, pretty much similar production to what we saw from him after the all star break last year. This injury is a genuine shame, having to get healthy again, regain confidence, he and DM looked so good together during the summer league.

Good Lord we have some crybabies around here. If you aren't whining about Rubio, you are whining about Exum.

The FO believes in Exum so I believe in Exum. At the very least, give him the rest of this season before you just relentlessly bash the guy. In a very small sample, Mitchell and Exum showed very great signs of potential together.

Have faith before going full on negative.

Have you always been a sheep?

If I was a sheep, I would be the normal Jazz fan who thinks Favors is an All Star, Deron was some 1st ballot Hall of Famer, and Gordon Hayward was worth all the fuss.

I'm far from a sheep. I just refuse to see the point in bashing a guy who is still under contract as a Jazzman and has potential to help us down the road.
