Fake ads on Craigslist and KSL.com

This. Always meet them somewhere public.
If you're dealing in something that's too big for you to transport, give them a fake address near you - maybe a number between houses on your street, or another street you can see. Somewhere you could see if a dude with an elliptical was trying to find an address. Then when he calls you in the prescribed time frame, telling you he can't find the place, you'll know he's legit.
To perpetrate your own robbery scam, a good method is to join an internet forum and wait for some guy to invite you over to his house to play poker. Then you can case the joint and rob it later.

Better also case out the neighbors pad .. you know, just in case they have a guard dog with a side of guard baby.
I've never even been to craigslist, but I do sell stuff on KSL. I think your first clue it's a scam is that they are offering to deliver it. I've NEVER offered to deliver anything. I had someone offer to pay me more if I delivered a large desk for him, but I even turned that down.
