I get that but it’s the Jazz choice. I’m sure the threat of physical violence is part of the lawsuit.

It should have been the NBA, but hard for them to do anything based on Westbrook being upset from racist speech. Without that, he probably would have been punished severely, which would be an incentive for him to lie. Edit:imagine the backlash from players if Westbrooks reaction to an alleged racist comment was severely punished. Would be a bad look for league management.

Honestly, a fan @ a Jazz game making a racist statement does not surprise me. Unfortunately it is a common occurrence for too many redneck Utahns.

I mean, I'm no lawyer so I really have no idea. Not something I can really argue, but it seems like they would have some level of liability if he is right and he never said those things.

My thought is the Jazz/Millers are ultra conservative. They would not ban him without pretty damning evidence.

On another note, I thought DJ PK hit it on the nose that in Utah there is a huge desire to be told you are not racist, so we have always loved all the black guys on the Jazz who say good things about Utah--mentioned Antoinne Carr.

I think this is just saying good things overall about the place. Utah has plenty of bad things said about/snickered at it that aren’t anything to do with this. The wives, the nightlife, etc. People love to be negative about the place all while never stepping foot in it.

For instance Colin Cowherd. People here hate his takes on Donovan, but he continually posts how much he loves Park City Utah and the people here, like he did just a few days ago, and people are always going to be welcoming in those mentions to someone who doesn’t come at you with the predetermined conclusion.

This is how I felt. Russell was there as a professional and should be expected to act professionally. He was fined $25,000 but that clearly wasn't enough because players continue to engage with fans and are threatening to escalate problems. Commissioner Silver needs to channel his inner David Stern and make it clear that players will be held accountable for fan interactions and that it is not worth it to them. Can you imagine how Stern would have acted to players threatening another Malice in the Palace?
Edit: Don't want to make it seem like fan wasn't at fault and didn't deserve the ban. Best case scenario he was a confrontational jerk, worst case he was a confrontational racist.

One thing I'll say here, don't boo Russ when he comes back here. I get he acted out of line, but it's not going to be a good look to boo him after an incident like this even is he acted like an a**hole himself.

**** that, I booed Westbrick before that incident and would boo him again cause I hate the way he behaves.

I’m not saying don’t boo him at all, I’m simply saying booing him loud at the beginning during lineup intros is a bad look to our guys especially after there were 2 incidents shown that he dealt with at our arena that were pretty bad.
