Favors knee soreness takes him out

I can't see Favors getting a max with all these health problems either. He'll likely be out for months with just knee soreness

It's definitely a red-flag to extending him for anywhere near a max contract. But it might also be an opportunity to cut a deal that offers him security.

Why would you sign a guy to a long term contract that is injured half the time? I am very worried that his body just cannot stand the rigors of the NBA schedule. We will see where this goes but maybe he is one of those guys you don't play on back to backs at a minimum. And in addition to beginning to look injury prone, he seems to be a slow healer. Not good.

Either Favors is kinda busted, the Jazz medical staff are bumbling oafs, or both. None of these scenarios are good but to me it looks like at least one of them is true.

Injured half the time but the most games he has ever missed in a season is 20?

He just overworked himself and now he is dealing with a long-term injury that will probably require an entire off-season of rest and rehab to recover from. The best thing the Jazz can do is to not overplay him during the season and let him rest on back-to-backs, or some kind of plan that prevents him from playing too many minutes in a certain time span.

The main question is "Is whatever happening to his knee in danger of causing long-term structural damage?". If it isnt then we just have to limit his minutes. If it does then you obviously shut him down.

He tried too hard in the offseason, came into camp with an overuse injury and didn't rest enough. Could be that Favors didn't use medical staff in the summer... but if he stayed and used our medical staff then there should be concerns about their quality

It's the athletes responsibility to communicate what he is feeling too. I dont know if an MRI scan can pick up knee soreness that comes from IT Band Syndrome.

The first time I saw Favors run the floor I was a little taken aback - it seems like he runs on his tippy-toes.

His problem may originate from well before he starting playing organized ball. His posture and the way he carries his body may have more to do with it than anything else.

He's always had a little bit different posture in the way he carries his shoulders. Doesn't run like a deer... might be an issue but if that is the issue it should have been identified and fixed a long time ago.

Hoping for the best... love Favors and dude has worked hard.

After tonight's game they just need to shut him down. I thought he could play through it by limiting minutes or not doing back-to-backs, but he looks stiff and in pain from the jump. He is moving like he is 35 out there instead of 25.

When you haven't made playoffs in 5 years the regular season matters

Spot on I say.

Come on, dude. 35 year olds do not move like that. If they do, it's because they're large and suffer from the beetus or something.

Favors out for tomorrow's game against Da Bulls with a knee bruise and IT band syndrome. So two injuries... not good. Did the knee bruise happen right before he bent over in the Memphis game?
