Claim that I’m changing arguments or shifting? No. You don’t get to do that.
What? This is a very common debate/discussion feature. If you aren’t clear or seem to be bouncing around from claim to claim without substantiation, then expect your interlocutors to use this tactic. What world do you live in?

It’s weird how you keep claiming that I’m going from claim to claim yet you keep refuting the one and only claim ive made; “Their bigs and PG position aren’t good.”

Disagree with that assessment? Fine. As I admitted in a previous post (which you quoted and then responded 2 times since), I’ve been wrong before.

claim that I’m changing the goalposts or making different claims? No. You don’t get to do that. Especially since I’ve only made one such claim and your very rebuttal seems to support that claim. no matter how many times you subsequently claim that I’m shifting the goalposts, it’s just not true. My claim was and always has been in the... 12 hours since I made it, their bigs and PGs aren’t good and need to be exploited. Which you clearly disagree with. Which is fine.

Furthermore, bigs v centers, I think it’s pretty obvious that I was describing Ibaka/Zubac. Especially when you consider my additional posts throughout this thread discussing the importance for Gobert and Favors to get aggressive and for our guards to attack the rim and lob it up to our bigs (centers since I don’t want to confuse you).

ive already expressed disinterest in wanting to argue these points further so there’s really no need to reply anymore.

For one, Donovan needed to go to the hoop and force the refs to make the calls early on, the way Beverly was playing him. It would've changed the whole tenor of the game. Then, I think, PG wouldn't have been able to get away with those obvious offensive fouls with that push off move. Also, it would've given the Jazz better 3-pt looks in the first half.

It was clear you were talking about Ibaka and Zubac when you said “centers.” Obviously.

It was less clear when you started saying “bigs.” Obviously.... because “bigs” is a more inclusive term; and it would include players like Marcus Morris Sr, etc.

Don’t gaslight. The distinction between these terms is real.

*exposed twice

look at our shot distribution in both games. They have the tools to profoundly disrupt our offense. We ran away from them in the 4th quarter of the first game... they ran out of gas... so look at 7 of the 8 quarters.

The way we matchup with them reveals the importance of foul pressure. We don’t have a guy who can put their key defenders on the bench with foul trouble. At least not consistently. And even if we do, they can sub in a guy like Terrance Mann who can be really disruptive, too.

Q has some work to do. I think we can break their defense for up to two quarters per game and we can hang around for the other two. That’ll produce wins. But we’ll need to see wrinkles that we didn’t see last night.
Also troubling is that right now, Lue is an upgrade over Doc. I don't think we have an advantage there. How do you think he compares to Quin?

I’d take Quin in a heartbeat. But I think Lue is good for the weird mental makeup of the Clips roster.

Lue might’ve screwed up last night by revealing too much of his plan for Utah. I’m thinking specifically of his decision to play Morris Sr at center for some key minutes down the stretch. I’d have left that in the bag for a potential playoff surprise. Q is at his best if he can see a matchup and then install a counter offensive over time.

How we counter that kind of small-ball remains a verrrrry open question, though. We aren’t as vulnerable to it as many think, but neither is Q as adaptive/experimental in the face of it as I’d like.

I couldn't catch the entire game, did Quin roll out the Gobert/Favors lineup? I've suspected that would help against the Clippers.
