Feeling Better About This Team

Welp, there's nothing more sobering than another horrific embarrassing loss to a clown show Lakers team without AD. It's a boring take, but this is the same team. The difference between the Jazz and the Suns are that the Suns are infinitely better in the clutch and infinitely better coached. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Whatever happens in the RS, fact is the Jazz have to overcome the fact that Quin is a weak point when adjustments happen and this team completely crumbles under pressure. It's painfully obvious. We might be the best team in the league when things go by the book and the way Quin prepared for. But we are a G-League level team when adjustments come in. Can't adjust to the most basic strategies like the defense trapping our ball handler and get completely owned by offensive strategies like Stanley Johnson running PnR.

I said this after the last Laker game, but this isn't a one game overreaction. It's a pattern we've seen for years and it hasn't changed. Quin is legitimately a bot. Not a smart bot that can adjust to knew information, but a bot that can only do a few functions well.

We aren’t catching Suns, Dubs or Griz. We are either going to have a first round rendezvous with one of them or get #4/#5 seed and play Suns in the second round if we get past that.

This season just feels like a slow motion plunge off a cliff where you can see the bottom drawing closer and closer but can do nothing to stop it.

Thinking the main problem is Snyder is wishful thinking. And deep down I think we all know it. This is a roster problem.

It sucks to admit it, but the media is right about this team. The jazz have a lot of really good players on the roster, but we have a couple major weaknesses that will be hard to overcome at the highest level. The fact that this team really cannot win close games at all for the past three years, the fact that this team melts down and blows playoff series they were a head in shows that our team is too easy to counter. Gobert is an awesome player and has been so amazing for the franchise, it sucks that the media and the rest of the league might be right. His effectiveness is just really easy for teams to counter, especially in late game situations. And Conley frankly has not been a good enough of a second fiddle is to mitchell.

I think we could win a playoff series if we matched up against the right team. But that’s the problem. This team is supposed to be a contender, and there’s only a couple teams I think we could beat in a series.

And I don’t think the development of the bench guys is going to be enough to swing it. Especially since we know Snyder is going to go back to his core in the fourth. He’s never been a coach willing to sit the starters in clutch time. For that reason alone I’m okay with moving on from him, but that can’t be only the change this team makes.

yep, a different coach can make better adjustment to the rotation on a game-to-game basis but in the end it will still be this main core of DM/Rudy/Conley/Bogey/Royce/JC absorbing 80% of the min. So how much better can we really get by changing that 20%?

This main core of 80% is flawed and until that changes we won't go anywhere.

We are a cute story.

I think Mike is hurt…or we wore his *** out. Give him a couple weeks off. Let Forrest and JB get some run.

The Jazz could have 5 hall of famers, but we're still at a massive strategic disadvantage. Perfectly predicting which player is about to play best is not a real thing and won't help us win. Especially when you're talking about predicting when worse player's are going to play than better players. It doesn't matter who was out there tonight, for example. The Lakers completely took Mitchell out of the game and we allowed LeBron to have any 1v1 matchup he wanted in return. That's all strategy, not having better players.

If the Jazz were the most talented team in the league, the Jazz probably couldn't get it done with Quin because he cannot make an adjustment on the fly. We don't have close to the most talented team in the league.

i'm starting to agree with Quin's lack of adjustment in general so to fix that you either trade some of his favorite guys(which sticks to my point) or fire him completely.

I'd say we need a major roster shakeup first and foremost. If Quin refuses like when he called off the Jingles deal last summer, yeah bring in someone who's willing to do it.
