FG/3P% contract incentives for Hayward?

I will keep this simple.

Do you think the Jazz should offer contract incentives based on his FG & 3P percentages?

Something like 45% and 50% from the field. depending on the level will depend on how much he gets paid each year.
37% and 40% from the 3?

or would this just offend him?

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Remember how Korver stoped playing a sertain way because he was afraid he wouldn't get the 3pt record, and wouldn't it offend you? I would want my team to do what's good for the team, not himself and his pockets. Who the handle that kind of pressure to perform night in night out for 82 games season after season.

Also not to mention your singling out Hayward from the rest of the team. That's not fair to Hayward.

Well Hayward's shot selection and consistency was really bad last year.

Burks has improved each year and is on his rookie contract. Trey is on his rookie contract. Favors is a big man and his shot selection isn't bad.
Kanter shot 49%.
We should be calling him out. He should be called out for his shooting.

Just want to clear things up.

Say the jazz sign Hayward to a 4 year 48 million$ contract, but he has a bad shooting year. Are you suggesting they bump it down to say 44 million because he shot 43% instead of 45%?

No there is no way he would accept that. That wouldn't be a incentive. Increase in pay if he hits above 45% from the field(example) would be the ultimate goal. Giving him a bonus to his contract.

What first option doesn't take bad shots once in a while. The problem with your screwed up thinking is that Hayward isn't a #1 option, and he was used incorrectly. His shot selection was questionable at times because he was trying to be what he wasn't take the responsibility and he shoots less and his shot selection improves.

I'm fine with that. You made it sound like it could go down.

In reality it does go down. Its the same either way.

He knows from the start what he gets guaranteed. And what he can possibly get.

He also has been very inconsistent his whole career going back to Butler. It literally is like an every other year with his shot.

3 point shot
08-09 - 44% (Butler)
09-10 - 29% (Butler)
10-11- 47%
11-12 - 34.6%
12-13 - 41%
13-14 - 30%

He has the ability. His release is fine. Its mental with maybe his balance or something. But it has become ridiculous. Wide open 3 point shots has nothing to do with how he was used.

Yes it does.

Yes it does.

So because he has missed wide open 3 point shots every other year in his career for the last 6 years even BEFORE Corbin........

Explain how we used him incorrectly and how that made him miss those wide open jumpers....

I agree we used him incorrectly but that isn't an excuse for missing wide open jump shots. Catch and shoot shots.

Last year was the first year he had an off shooting year in the nba. 34% isn't great but it's not bad either.
