Finals ratings down

Actually, someone better with cap/salary years stuff than me. I’m not sure, if Mitchell becomes super max eligible and can signs new super max contract after the 2023-24 season, what season would his super-max % be based on? If that revenue spike is projected to hit, and his super max is based off like the 2025-26 season or 2026-27 season, his super max would be an ungodly number at 35% of that cap. If it’s based of 2025-27 he’d be looking at a contract worth 5 years like $600+ million with that cap spike.
Donovan isn’t signing a super max. Don is demanding out, because he’s a douchebag and because he’s going to NYK to play for his buddy Dolan, remember? But if he signs a super max I’m looking forward to “he’s going to demand teh tradez!!1”

I agree, I’m just curious and it’s crazy how much the supermax would be for him and several others who will hit that cap spike at the exact right time. It would hit $100-$120 million per year with that kind of cap and revenue spike. On the other side of it, it could make it much easier to team up super stars as well during that spike.

The games haven’t been competitive. I think that’s the major reason. Same with last year. Didn’t the lakers sweep the heat?

If the bucks could actually compete then I think ratings would rise. I’m a big nba fan and watched all of the Clippers Suns games even though I was still in recovery from our series. but even I haven’t watched more than a half of this crap. Who wants to watch the Suns up by double digits and never actually threatened?

What?

Do people go back in time and tell themselves to not watch the game after it's a blowout?

The 2017 and 2018 Finals were uncompetitive as hell and had significantly better ratings.

Everyone knows Mil is a heavy underdog. And in today’s DVR world, I imagine a lot of people are waiting to see if this series will be competitive. If Mil comes back and ties this, I bet the ratings will skyrocket. But after seeing the Suns dismantle the best WC teams, I don’t think anyone wants to watch them tear apart a second or third rate EC team. Had the Nets been somewhat healthy, we’re seeing a completely different Finals. Meanwhile, I don’t know the same could be said about Phx. Phx looked like the best team in the west for the second half of the season. Had the season gone another week, they would’ve overtaken us.

My idiot brother was a die hard Jazz fan and basketball fan his whole life, he now refuses to watch because of how "woke" the NBA has become. I have a few co-workers who feel the same way. Hate to say it but I think that may be part of the reason for the ratings decline.

It is for sure a factor. The bubble stuff did turn plenty of people off. It’s a lot of things though, but that’s a factor. It hasn’t really impacted things locally though. Jazz local ratings are the 2nd highest in the league and the highest they’ve ever been. Nationally it did hurt the league, they’ve turned the social justice stuff down quite a bit since the bubble, it’ll be interesting to see how long that lasts with those who actually don’t watch it because of that.

Scott Foster reffing tonight. Line jumped from Bucks at -4 to now -4.5, and money line went from -170 before the Foster news to -190 lol.

If the Bucks don't win tonight... lol
