Following 2016 potential draftees

On the subject of Hield, forgetting for a second about NBA projections, right now he is getting 26 ppg on 53% FGs, 52% 3pt and 90% FTs. I'll go out on a limb and say there has never been a major college player finish the season with 20+ ppg, and a 50/50/90. Hield is more than than just a good shooter, he might be the best shooter college basketball has seen since the three point line.

Glen Rice is the nearest to Hield I could find - 26 ppg on 50/50/83.

people use age to much to downgrade a player. Look at Lillard. He was a 4 year player has been productive in the league for a couple years already and has a lot of basketball ahead of him still... With what Curry is doing this year teams are going to value these shooters more then a an athletic prospect.... Speaking of 4 year player so was Draymond Green. Wasn't Klay also a 4 year player? Maybe it was 3 year. Spurs historys show they have been known to get these 4 year college kiids . How is that team?

The Jazz will probably finish with the 8th seed and pick in the mid teens. I'd be down to draft Hield that low if he were available. We need sharpshooters, and Hield is averaging 50% from 3 on 8 attempts per game.

As I pointed out with Trey Burke back then, sometimes I just worry about drafting the National Player of the Year (unless he's a freshman), and Hield is certainly going to win that award.

There's an unnecessary premium placed on those players.

He's not Steph Curry or Damien Lillard, and IMO shouldn't even be brought up with those players, they're PG's. Buddy Hield is like a Brad Beal type, he's a SG.

What's your big board looking like right now?

The Spurs have drafted a total of 2 seniors in the first round in the last 14 drafts (George Hill and John Salmons)

I'm not a fan of drafting seniors either, but Buddy's shooting is so tempting. He has a better physical profile than many other seniors and NPOY winners (Kaminsky, Doug, Jimmer, etc.)

I dunno.. I like the risk/reward of a shooter like Malik Newman better wherever he's projected (late 1st/early 2nd) He turns 19 in a few weeks.

Not one GM would take Newman over Buddy.. W\how come Hood can still improve as a player even though he came into nba "older" but Buddy could not?

Also the Spurs have key players that were 4 year college players, Even if they didn't draft them ... Danny Green. The 2 faces of the Spurs for the past 30 years were 4 year college players... David Robinson even had to serve in Navy before he could join Spurs so he was even older.. Look at Blazers, They have one of the best young backcourts in all of the nba.. Both were 4 year players... They have atleast 10 years left together playing at a high level.. You cant just stay drafting guys based off potential and expect to get anywhere in this league. If that is your line of thinking you will be drafting lottery picks forever.. The nba is changing. Teams are looking for shooters. If you can shoot the ball in college, you can shoot the ball in the nba. The rim is the same size. I understand that defenders are bigger and all that but Steph Curry I don't think anyone would call athletic. Not in a jump high and dunk on ya type of way..I actually got Malik Newman as a bust so far. He really needs to return to school next year. He isn't even playing the point for his team now, so how come you think he could in the nba? At best Newman is looking like a Louis Williams type player YEARS from now.. He is also a volume shooter. You are sleeping on Buddy Hield BIGTIME dude.. Your one of my favorite posters here so I got to slap you across your forehead and tell you to wake up.

I think they'd like Hield or Furkan if the draft was held today. Of course, a lot can change - and will - in 5 months.
