Following 2016 potential draftees

Thon Maker would make the Utah Stars an interesting team to watch and possibly sell some D-League tickets.

So Thon is waiting for NBA to decide if he is eligible?

DX: What has the NBA told you about your petition to become draft-eligible this year?

TM: I am awaiting a response from the NBA.

Sources said Maker is awaiting official word from the NBA regarding his eligibility but couldn’t get an answer until he declared for the draft. Maker and his family expect an answer soon. – via ESPN.com

Marc J. Spears: From what I saw of Thon Maker live the last 3 years, I really hope he changes his mind about NBA & goes to college. Nice kid. Far from ready

sounds like NBA personal haven't been too impressed with him during the events he has been a part of. He's still has a lot of potential with his size and athletic ability. I could definitely see him being available at our pick, unless he has some monster work outs. He's a swing for the fence type of pick and we could use our newly localized d-league team to get him experience.

I just read through his interview. Seems like a great mature kid (Maker). He seems raw as hell. He is saying the right things and could be pretty interesting. I think he's a total swing for the fences guy.

Hopefully he's in the draft though... I would rather someone else take a chance on him. I think Luwawu will be the steal of the draft if he goes around 20 like Ford is projecting. Seems he has a lot of what you need to be a great wing.

Brandon Ingram has declared.

Marquette freshman Henry Ellenson will declare for the NBA Draft and sign with an agent, source told ESPN.

Baylor forward Taurean Prince has signed with Aaron Turner of Verus Management

I say he's a better project than Frank Kaminsky. He's also technically Australian and it's probable he and Exum will be teammates on the national squad for years to come.

That's projected top-10 pick in 2017 Bam Adebayo trying to guard him here./

Thon would add a different look to this team. His skillset at 7'1" is far from the norm. I could see him developing into a really solid bench player in his 2nd year.

All he needs to do is have a smooth transition to the league and he's going to play a long time, so with that in mind, I think the Jazz would be an excellent landing spot for him. I could see his rookie season turning into a bit of a circus elsewhere.

Thon has the type of talent that if he's going to get better every year, a la Hayward and Favors, you have a possible gem.

He plays with effort and teams will like that.

Originally from Sudan/S Sudan. Another one of these guys who have a guardian advising them.

Remember bigs always climb the draft board. I would take a flier on maker but when the jazz get the 6th seed it wont matter.

Does he have the athleticism/skills to see minutes at SF in the NBA?

FWIW, Ford has Skal at #16 and Thon at #20. One or both could be available when we pick, along with Luwawu, Korkmaz, and Baldwin. There should definitely be some good options available for us in the mid teens.

Lindsey gonna pull off the steal of the draft yet again?

I'd have a hard time believing Thon could fall to #20, and if so, why even declare this year?

Because being a 1st round pick you make more money than playing in college.

If he has a ****ty year in college no guarantee he is a 1st round pick. Look at Skal, and he had 1st overall hype. Maker's hype is late lottery to mid 20's, he could easily fall out of the 1st round with a bad year in college.
