Can anyone make a credible argument while Skal will succeed where Perry Jones failed? Same size. Same athleticism. Same freshman college stats. Skal did block more shots but with his enormous foul rate (7.6 per40) I am tempted to throw that advantage out the window. At this time in 2012 Perry Jones was mocked at #12 by DX. About the same spot Skal is right now. 20 some days later on draft night Perry Jones fell to #28. He has proved not even to be worth that, as he has busted in the NBA.

Same freshman college stats? Skal didn't average half the points or rebounds that PJ3 did. That's not hyperbole; he literally didn't average half of Jones' numbers.

Look, I'm trying to see if the Jazz can get a starting-caliber player out of this draft. There aren't all that many options at 12. You can take Luwawu and hope he becomes something close to Andre Iguodala. You can take Korkmaz and hope he becomes something like Brent Barry or Rex Chapman. You can take Prince and hope he's a baller. Otherwise, you draft someone and hope he becomes a rotation player. Baldwin and Richardson look interesting. Jaylen Brown might slip.

Skal has tiny balls.

I saw Horry come into the league beginning with summer league at East High School. He was a super skinny 6'9" dude who liked to shoot elbow jumpers. He did have balls though.

Mentally weak upside players. PJ3 serves as a good example of a player that had perceived upside but never reached it. There are lots of players like this and we should learn from them: it doesn't matter how much upside a player has if they don't have the mental capacity to reach that potential.

The scout who listed those downsides was obviously a Jazz fan.

As frosh, per 40:

Jones: 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 blocks
Skai: 16.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 4.2 blocks

Skai's assist, turnover and personal foul numbers are VERY worrisome. Then again, I guess one could say he still scored 16.7 points per 40 despite having Ullis and Murray (as well as other talent), two guys who always have the ball in their hands , and despite supposedly being awful. He still grabbed 8.0 rebounds per 40 despite being a complete ***** supposedly and despite playing on the perimeter (look at how Love's rebound numbers have fallen) offensively. Interesting but I'm just so done with ******* on this team.

Why not just sign Channing Frye, draft Luwawu/Korky, and maybe try to upgrade at the backup point guard spot?

Would love to get him but he is currently looking like a better shooter than klay, steph, or korver. How much is he going to get and how much playing time will he demand? I'm thinking he will want max money and a starting position.
