So, because no one on this board thinks he will not take less then max, that automatically means he won't? Let's look at the facts. Does anything Hayward do suggest he cares about total top dollar as long as he's making a good amount? This is a guy who drove a cheap car when he was making millions and eating subway. He isn't a party boy, and as far as I know, I've never heard that he was all that find of the night life. I could be wrong about that, but all I can say is I've never heard anything about him going to clubs or bars. He's now married and has a kid and enjoys video games. Seems like he prefers the simple life with his family and being top dog for the Jazz.

He's smart and knows the Jazz are building something great. He comes off as a down to earth guy who enjoys his family and teammates. I've never heard comments similar to DWill passing out threats of leaving or anything never any Boozer type statements about getting paid. IMO as long as the Jazz treat him fairly and offer a raise, I don't think he would try to completely break the bank. He seems like the guy that would take less to keep his buddies on the team.

Hayward just doesn't have that kind of cocky personality u see with most NBA stars.

That's funny.. I've used the same argument (subway and the accord) to suggest he will absolutely get everything he can.

His representation has taken everything the can in negotiations and was unwilling to extend on his rookie deal because they were a couple M off per year. They played this perfectly... Got player options, trade kickers, and timed the market perfectly so that he could get a ransom.

Winning and family are important but I have no doubt he gets multiple four year max options and we'd be smart to come in and offer a five year deal as soon as FA opens so he doesn't talk to other teams.

I think you are wrong on this one.

I'm with Fish here... He gets 5 year max... May take a slight discount on fifth year but nothing that will save us enough to significantly move the needle.

Getting this last contract and going for the next are completely different.

Before, he was coming off his team friendly rookie contract. The current deal was all about being set up for life. He's still going to get paid very well and get a lot more money then what he's currently getting.

Looking at life style and his overall demeanor, and things he's said or hasn't said, would lead me to believe he wants to be here, because it's best for his life style and family and loves his teammates. By the way, another reason to keep Ingles other then the fact that he's a good role player.

Above all else he wants to win here.

I think that we'll keep Hayward and eventually trade Gobert or Favors since we have Lyles coming up. Probably Favors.

IF the Jazz think Exum is the real deal, then I think Baldwin is a better option over D Murray. IF they don't trust Exum coming back well, I can see why they would prefer Murray.

Needs: Depth, backup PG, shooting

No. 12: Dejounte Murray, PG, Washington

Some teams believe if Murray had played at Duke or Kentucky, he'd be a sure-fire top-five pick. His size, quickness and toughness are all elite for a point guard prospect. He's not a great shooter and he can sometimes play out of control, but with the Jazz looking to be a playoff team for the next decade, they ought to take one more swing at getting a young star in the draft.

You'll have to be patient with Murray, but his long-term upside is off the charts and he and Dante Exum could be a lethal combo down the road.

Other interesting picks:
-Celtics get Murray at 3
-Korkmaz goes no. 10 to the Bucks.
-Thon Maker goes no. 18 to the Pistons
-Zizic no. 15 to the Nuggets.

He should not and will not offer us a discount. We shouldn't expect him to. His last contract was to set up this opportunity... Could have signed a longer deal... Probably could have received an offer and brought it back to us and asked us to go 5 years. Do we think he set all that up to take less than market value?

He can be happy in many places... It's not like he will have to go to philly to get a max deal... Could go home, LA, a perennial contender.
