Following potential 2012 draftees

Also, off topic, but why did Zeller have his damn hands down on that last play. When a guy is sizing you up for a solid 5 seconds you have to know he is looking for the three ball. They need a 3 to win, so put your damn hands up before he starts shooting. Make him drive past you and go for the tie or pass it.

Agree 100%. Was dumb.

Zeller probably wanted to goad Rivers into taking that shot. Either that, or he thought he would "contain" him by not letting him drive. Didn't work, obviously.

It was somewhat similar to the UK/UNC game ... except Davis got the block.

I could see that strategy if you are the road team or if Rivers was shooting poorly that night. But if you are the home team you have to think a worst case scenario of an overtime is still heavily in your favor as opposed to a player who is extremely hot from deep pulling off a big shot.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I am in shock. Wow. Rivers....I have no words for you. Please draft him Jazz, please please please please please.

I think his draft stock will rise a lot by the time draft rolls around after march madness. He will be out of the Jazz range, but I would love him.

The saddest part is that I went to go hang out with some friends in town because I figured the game wouldn't be worth watching. Missed the whole thing.

/Kill me.

Ouch. Funny thing is that I thought UNC was having their way with Duke (they were) until about the 4:00 mark. Duke just stole it in the final seconds. Rivers has near Kobe confidence and 'it' .. (did not compare them as players, just their 'tude.)

There was no doubt in my mind who was going to be taking that last shot ... and that it was going to go in.

As for UNC, they have supreme talent, length, etc .. but are tissue soft pansies.

His stock is going to rise a lot, but I'm not sure everyone understands just how low it was before (he wasn't even on Chad Ford's top 20 last time I checked). In other words, he will still be in our range (8-14) imo. I really don't see him going any higher than 8th. Not in this draft.

Does anyone know anything about Machado from a physical standpoint? As in quickness, athletic ability, length, etc.?

He is a decent athlete. Not blazing speed, actually pretty average in that category but, he is not one dimensional. He can score decently. He is playing with another possible NBA prospect in Michael Glover. Who is like a 3-4 tweener, that is avg like 18 and 8 (not sure of the numbers off the top of my head) But, they really feed of each other. Machado makes Glover's life easier and Glover is helping with Machado assist numbers. He turns the ball over a bit. He is a true floor general and you can tell not only by his assist numbers, but also by his demeanor. He is a decent shooter when open . You won't see him bother anyone with his length, especially in the NBA. Mechanics on his shot sure look a hell of alot better than our current PG's but that is not saying much. He can dunk if that means anything lol.

Can we even be sure this kid comes out this year? Because i agree.. I don't think he goes higher than 8 unless someone really wants him.

The way Machado's team runs offense is almost puke worthy. That's why I think his numbers don't translate well. I don't think he'll be able to drive in the lane so easy and kick out...

Then again, I've only seen youtube vids.

They are kinda frantic. I can't see your video because I am at work. But, ya they aren't a good half-court team. Machado is not going to boad well in the half-court at first either. He will probably need to develop that. But, in transition is definitly where he excels. They score a ton so they aren't really a bad team offensivly at all. They only lost to Purdue by 1, first game of the season. Hummel had 24 on them. His numbers are nice yes, could become only the 3rd player in NCAA history to avg double digit pts and ast. But, the reason he is getting looks is because of how he threads the needle in transition. It's pretty impressive.

This doesn't seem pukish to me.. This is a nice half-court set oop he throws, it is about NBA 3-point range. Imagine getting him in the 2nd round to come off the bench to throw that to Evans or Favors. I like it!

Idk I have seen them play and there offense is very good. It's far from full of broken plays, or sloppy. They are are good athletes that love to get out in transition, they just get in a hurry sometimes.

It all comes back to Roy. When you have a coach like him that whines at every opportunity and walks off the court when losing, you're going to have a bunch of pansy players.

What most people saw last night, was two coaches who refuse to make changes to the way they coach and are suffering because of it. I love Coach K, but his insistence on ALWAYS running a high pressure man to man defense is just stupid. Stupid.

K overplays the passing lanes that too often leads to easy transition layups for the other team, imo. He also allowed way too many 3's .. they won, but it was a total crapshoot. If they had zoned UNC, Duke would have gotten destroyed on the boards .. and UNC only hit 1 three-pointer anyway.

I'm not necessarily saying they should have played a zone, but when they play Kendall Marshall really tight, it's dumb because he's obviously a guy with a good handle but limited outside shot, playing him tight allowed him to get past Curry/Cook/Thornton and create easy shots for his teammates. Stuff like that bugs me.
