Following potential 2012 draftees

I'm bored of this SF and PG talk. Let's talk SG's...

Right now I'd probably rank them: Beal, J-Lamb, Rivers. All three seem like they will be good shooters which we definitely need.

IMO Lamb is really good and underrated. He looks like a rich man Richard Hamilton due to his ability to hit 3's but his mid range game mimics Rip's.

While I agree that the Jazz need more shooting for the future, I'm sick of this line of thinking that just because someone can't shoot that means they'll never amount to anything more than Brewer has...

Career 3PT%

Michael Jordan (32%)
Grant Hill (31%)
Dwyane Wade (29%)
Scottie Pippen (32%)
Lebron James (33%)

What made them great? Competitive FIRE; the desire to be better than everyone else and the work ethic to actually accomplish that; freakish athleticism; the desire to make everyone around them better; being multidimensional players. I see all of the above in Kidd-Gilchrist. No, I don't necessarily think he'll be in the same category as the players listed above, but I think all those traits will at least make an All-Star. All-Star caliber player seems more likely to me than Brewer-ish.
You know what helped them? TEAMMATES that could spread the floor. This isn't about the individual. Gilchrist with other floor-spreaders would be great, but the Jazz don't have really anyone like that (not so long as Hayward is looking extremely mortal so far).

I am with spycam1 as far as MKG goes. Sometimes people draw their conclusion without thinking does this guy have the drive and talent to become better. YES!!! That is why drafting simply for talent usually ends up being the problem. I know it is hard to determine if a guy is just talking or if he actually wants to get better. However, I think if you watch a player and he exhibits great work habits and has the talent then the chances are going to be that he gets better. Does the guy fold up when the pressure gets intense? Does he work on his game when others are not? Look at Magic Johnson, he was not a very good shooter coming out of Michigan State but as his career progressed he was a decent shooter. Just watching Magic you could tell he loved the game and wanted to get better. Stockton and Malone were the same way. Look at Karl's FTs, he shout 48% as a rookie and at the end of his career he shot in the high 70s and might have enven top 80% at one time.

Look at AK, all the talent in the world but no drive. Shaq could have been greater if he had worked harder. All the talent but not a great work ethic. I have already seen a big improvement in MKG since I first saw him play for the USA Junior team. He definitely needs to work/prove he can make shots off the dribble to be an elite player but I just believe that he can be special if he continues to work at his game.

My favorite SG in the class is Beal, hands down. Having said that, if they were to be ranked on performance, thus far, I'd rank them;

1. JLamb (though he's a year older than the other, he didn't do a lot the first half of his freshman year, and that needs consideration)
2. Tie between Rivers and Beal with slight edge to Rivers, maybe. Beal has to show better/more consistent shooting stroke.

I think all three of these guys are going to be good.

Sorry to get off the KG, and Barns love fest, but I'm watching my first Utes game, they are playing Was. Anyone I should be watching that is on the jazz radar? Also this Storey kid is he any good, or have a future being a freshman and all.

Certainly watch Wroten for Washington.

... and this is not a K-G / Barnes lovefest. We discuss about 20+ guys here and most are not that high on Barnes .. and there is no player that everyone likes.
