What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

Is it bad that I am now thinking getting the GS pick next year might be worth it.

When the Warriors attempt to tank this year (and fail), it will result in the Jazz getting the 8th or 9th pick. Next year, the Warriors think they'll be where the Jazz are now, around 13 - 17. So it's the difference between a lotto pick this year and a mid-first round pick next year. The Warriors saw this too, which is why they're trying to tank this year. I think the Jazz need to seize this opportunity to grab a PG while they can.

How did he not improve his stock when he got injured? That showed how much value he had to unc when the couldn't score against ku. I have read from multiple sources that he improved his value when he hurt his wrist and showed his value how is that untrue.

Everyone knew how important he was to their offense. Just look at how bad they were before he became a starter last year.

You can go ahead and exit this thread now. Please don't ever compare Marshall to Kidd coming out of college again.

So what's the difference between them? I haven't seen much of either of them this year. I watched a little Kendall Marshall.

The only difference really in their stats were that Marshall shot less in college.

I think Kidd w/o rebounding of Kidd would be Marshall's cieling.
Mark Jackson w/o the crazy is likely what Marshall would be.

And when I say Mark Jackson, I mean a player that puts up 10 pts/10 assists. Marshall is more likely IMO to be a 8pt/11assists kinda guy

I could care less either way, he knows how to run the offense and can probably make Favors an All Star.

Kidd was an elite defender, very athletic, got into the lane at will. He's able to use his size more than Marshall does, just an overall better player by quite a bit. I think people are forgetting just how good Kidd was back when he was coming out, I'm not saying Marshall isn't good, because I have changed my mind on him, but Kidd was elite. I mean, he averaged almost 4 steals a game as a true freshman....that's crazy.

In the world of college basketball, a lot had changed and no one could've been sure just what level of impact Marshall was continuing to have. Now we know for sure, and that will be the thing people will remember more now.

Also some reasons why I and probably some others changed their tune: Ricky Rubio's impact (despite not having a good PER and no other great skills), and Jamaal Tinsley's (no legs at all, and really no particular scoring ability left, yet he has made a huge impact just with his passing and demeanor).

And the Kidd comparison isn't terrible, but it certainly isn't good. People forget just how quick and powerful Kidd was. He could get to the cup, and he's one of the better defensive PGs the league has seen.

For being such a great athlete, Kidd was still a terrible offensive player in the pro's. The guy only shot over 42% from the floor 3 times in his career despite being a great athlete. Still think he is one of the more overrated PGs of all time.

Kind of OT, but had to say it.
