Following potential 2012 draftees

Agree. Can you find any images of Carlos that look like this?

Well it's hard to tell where his head is, but his feet are way up there. This is what separates Boozer from Davis athletically; Davis has incredible explosion and a tremendous wing span. I have to have the confidence that the guys measuring them know how to measure a human being (it's not that difficult). Boozer also outweighs Davis by 45 pounds. We'll see if that matters at the next level.

I'm sure it will in his rookie season. I believe the NBA bigs will just shove him out of the way .. but he'll figure it out after one season, tops.

I wouldn't say head height is meaningless. I think it's a psychological advantage over players.

Maybe for mentally weak players. You could use any number of criteria for size intimidation, but what really intimidates is what you do on the floor. Serge Ibaka and Blake Griffin intimidate players by what they do. Derrick Favors intimidates Marcin Gortat because he stuffs every shot he attempts. If Charles Barkley had been intimidated by an opponent's height advantage, he would have never had a psychological advantage because he was a 6'6" PF. However, he dominated.

Nope, that's why I'm phased out by it. You can clearly see how freakish his arms are.

TIL:
freakish arms != huge standing reach
that standing reach does not equate to blocks
and that standing reach does not necessarily make you look taller cause Boozer looks like an undersized forward to me.

I'm just wierded out by how awful this draft class' standing reach is. I was wondering if there'd been a change, but that makes sense. A player could have a long neck accounting for the hieght and that would reduce his reach as well. But seriously, Anthony Davis can only reach as high as Boozer? That seemed off, way off.

Actually, his reach isn't bad at all for a PF. Some players just have the right physiology--some don't. For example, Joakim Noah has an 8' 10.5" standing reach and he is 7' with shoes. Also, Aaron Gray has a 9' 0.5" standing reach and he is 7'2" in shoes.
