Following potential 2014 draftees

I think the draft lacks quality at Center and depth at point guard. Other positions, especially SG are uniquely deep and talented. Wouldn't be surprised if 6 years from now 3 of the top 5 SG in the league are '14 draftees.

I always thought due to the one and done rule they would limit themselves to populating college games and let the colleges do the work to scout high schoolers.

Para1: The center position isn't necessarily deep, but looking at where our picks are likely to fall, we see Willie Cauley-Stein, Joel Embiid, Mitch McGary, Isaiah Austin, and possibly Dakari Johnson / Patric Young. That's by no means a weak center class.
As for PG's, we will likely see Andrew Harrison, Kasey Hill, Jahii Carson, Micic.. and someone no one is talking about right now but will quickly rise on mock drafts.. Williams-Goss. Again, those positions aren't the deepest, but not thin either. PG is weakest, imo. Y'all recall me saying that 4 years ago????? That there would be a long drought of elite PG's.

Para2: That's mostly true, but they still CLOSELY watch the top 5 or so HS's.

Let me revise what I just said: I don't think there is center whose ceiling is more than DPOY. No Max Player. I know there's a lot who can clog the paint, but none of them really has the talent on the other end of the floor to justify a max contract. That's my opinion after watching all the aforementioned's highlights.
With PG I was a little bit premature as I totally forgot Smart for a second.

With Kasey Hill I'm not convinced in any form. The McDonalds All American showcase was now the 2nd stage where the quality of talent exceeded the usual high schooler and he was awful for a 2nd time.
Kasey Hill will never be a starting PG imo. His body is trash(short arms, short height), he's old(turning 20 in December, that's 3 months younger than Schröder who raw as he is, is equipped with elite court vision and athleticism and is already 1 year ahead of Hill's learning curve).

Nigel Williams-Goss was really good at the McDonalds game. But when I watch him play I think he's best suited to stay in college for a 2nd year.

Jahii Carson? You really think with his height and arms he's going to be more than Nate Robinson? I he'd light it up from 3 point land I'd say HELL YEA, just screen him all game long and he can shooter over a shield. But he's giving up on defense and his offense is not that convincing...This year's non conference schedule doesn't include other elite PGs. If they played vs Kentucky, Oklahoma State I'd be more convinced he could do damage.

Micic will be hit or miss. He could be special. If San Antonio scouts appear too often in Croatia this season, you better draft him early...

So I see 2 tall, strong point guards and that's it.

Croatia and Serbia game just started. If anyone interested to see Saric and Hezonja, can watch with this link. Can't promise if they will get playing time though, but at least Tomic is playing.

Edit: Also Vasilije Micic in the game for Serbia.

I am very confused as to what we're talking about here.
The context of my recent posts here was concerning the evaluation of our team after the season is over and we need to plug holes.
I had no idea I was talking to you about max players. I generally agree with most of what you're saying, but it's like it's a complete separate topic.

I was talking about filling holes with player(s) from our draft spots to fill weaknesses in the roster. A completely different topic than what you're arguing, I think.

Please try to keep up.

Ye I just expanded it as to a general question as I don't feel comfortable to discuss the Jazz's needs next June at this point.
I'm just like: Yeah I hope high pick, grab&groom BPA unless you feell it's really really close talent wise with the availbale player on that spot and the next best player.
I'm at least not capable to predict if one of the bigs or backcourts won't live up to the expectations.
So you're prolly right in the big picture. I feel that draft might be so deep that a player picked at 40 could be picked at 20 in every other draft.
I wonder if that will lead to some kids returning to school in the end.
There'll be at least 3 player the Jazz can grab with their picks who will be worth to develop.
I just thought u mean the Jazz #1, which will be top 10 guaranteed. And some names simply didn't fulfil my top 10 expectations.
Plugging holes is a task for teams picking in the 20s comfortably in the playoffpicture for the next years.
A rebuilding team should build a foundation of core players that can compete down the road. And with the Jazz probably lacking that primary scorer I'd never look into filling holes. Just str8 up top talent.

I have faith that Burke will be a solid enough pg and favors, kanter and Gobert are going to hold down the front court. Hayward will be more consistent from 3 and burks will learn to play more within a more structured offense.

with that said the jazz would need a go to scorer as burks would be a 6th man. a stretch 4 would be my next option. after that it doesn't matter.

like I said before if the jazz miss out on the top 4 then Gordon fits with Hayward being a more consistent 3 pt threat. Ideally I would want Isaiah Austin for the stretch 4.

Burke, Neto, Clark
Hayward, burks
Gordon, rush (re-signed)
favors, Austin
kanter, Gobert

that is a solid team that compliments each other.
