Following potential 2014 draftees

DX has Jazz picking up Vonleh with the 7th pick.

Who do you guys think he could be? Is he a starting PF caliber player in the NBA? Is he more of a Tyrus Thomas/Gibson type player, or does he have the upside to be a Chris Bosh type?

Serious responses only, please no vonleh/volley type jokes.

Gibson isn't bad. Vonleh is a little bulkier though and should translate into being a better rebounder. His flashes of three point shooting also give him a higher scoring upside than Taj.

This is one of the few highlight reels available for Vonleh. Notice the good flat footed leaping ability he has at 1:31

Marcus smart doing his thing. I think you have to be crazy to grab Exum over him. My top 8 are shaping up like this:

1-Parker
2-emblid
3-wiggins
4-smart
5-vonleh
6- Exum
7-Randal
8-Gordon

We should end up with one of these guys.

Edit- jazz big board. I think I still like emblid number one as far as potential and talent go. Just think the jazz would draft Parker over him.

I would still take Exum over Smart. I think Exum is going to be a better version of MCW and might even be comparable to John Wall. I like Smart's competitiveness and motor, but I think he's a bit more bark than bite. His offense is still pretty raw.

Vonleh has nice physical tools and is a 2-way player. He's not as explosive a talent as Chris Bosh, a guy who can up-fake and drive with a fairly quick first step. Physically Vonleh is a lot like LaMarcus Aldridge or a young Rashard Lewis. He has a good sense of basic fundamentals and has a few instances of explosiveness, but the question is how hard he's going to work to develop go-to moves on offense and how hard he's going to work to try to physically impact games. He's not going to come in and dominate the league, but he could be a 15/8 player at the PF spot who does a bit of everything and defends at a pretty high level.

Personally, I don't think he's a better prospect than Kanter. Right now, it's not clear to me what Vonleh does that's better than say Terrence Jones from Kentucky.

I agree with the first sentence. After that I'm 50/50.
