Following potential 2014 draftees

I don't know that KU was a bad choice.. he'll get press, unlimited playing time, etc.

No sour grapes for me. Disappointed, sure.

This cracked me up:

MrMichaelLee Bill Self recruiting pitch to Andrew Wiggins: "You want to be an NBA superstar like Michael Ruffin or Cole Aldrich? I can get you there!"

MrMichaelLee Hey, I'm happy for KU. But Bill Self has a rep for winning but not producing NBA stars. Having fun RT @MDJones_20 Every school has busts...

There have been some TERRIBLE choices.. this one isn't that bad. I think from a mktg/branding standpoint UK was the absolute easy choice. Winning a Nat'l Championship was a possibility at either UK or UNC.. but I'm not certain that's as big of priority as kids like to say it is. If he were my kid, I would have advised the schools in the following order;

1) UK - unprecedented exposure. Nike/ESPN/etc were chomping at the bit to run with the greatest team of all time stuff.. maybe Andrew didn't want that level of hype.. but it would have been undeniable exposure. (on the downside.. no matter how good you are, there are only so many minutes with 6 Burger boys and WCS/Poythress/Wiltjer returning)

2) UNC - Branded as the next MJ, shot at a title.. BUT no coach has done less with more talent than Roy Williams (an undeniable statistical fact).

3) Kansas - Still plenty of exposure and plenty of minutes.

4) FSU - total joke.. finalist only because of parents.. only school that would have been a huge mistake.

Where is BYU on the list?

Huge news for Jayhawks on Wiggins. As a KU homer I'm ecstatic. With Joel Embiid and Wayne Seldon a fantastic incoming class.

Hate to say I told you so, but my hunch was right in that he's the "lone wolf" type player, doesn't buy into the UK hype and wants to carve his own path to the NBA. Yes I thought it would be UNC based on the prestige that came with that - but he was even more "lone wolf" than I thought - he wanted to make a name for himself without any association to an established brand/player (UNC is sort of Michael's pond, Wiggins probably wanted to make his own "pond").

I think KU is a really good choice. It suits his said personality. He'll have a chance to be "the man" there, but with plenty of support to be successful. He'll get the exposure he needs. Can he win a title? I don't know enough about KU's roster next year to make a call.

But 1 thing's for sure, it won't be "Pitino's team" or "Calipari's team", if KU win it next year, it'll be 100% because of Wiggins. And I think that's just how he likes it.
