The CBA says the safest/easiest way to get a franchise player is via lottery and use that guy to attract others to surround him with.

Larry Bird admitted that they had no idea Paul George would become this good. He's a very unique prospect. Stayed 2 years in college and he had some physical potential but didn't make too much of it. But somehow scouts wrote him off as unskilled or whatever. He even wasn't a good defender in college just had the tools. There's interviews of him stating how he hated defending until he was teached in the NBA how to use his tools to shut down people. Once he experienced success doing it he took pride in it and wanted to become a lock down defender. But we can look back the last decades and search for a player of George's caliber who really bloomed late and flew under the radar so long. You could make a case for Marc Gasol that's the only one coming to my mind. I mean there are always underrated talents such as Roy Hibbert. NBA had a streak of 7 footer who simply didn't transition well and Hibbert fit that description at the time. A lot of stars and NBA icons were drafted outside the top5, but with a lot of guys it was simply assumed their skillset wouldn't transition or they were simply being passed over for having a foreign passport or they were the first of their kind like Kobe coming out of high school. NBA teams simply didn't have the scouts experienced enough to project his long term development and maybe the GMs lacked guts to try out sth new. But George is a late bloomer and that's rare. At the time of the draft a lot were for Hayward over George, simply because Hayward at the time looked like the better player.

Harris is no longer needed with Burks playing so well.

Jarami Grant is ver interesting in the late teens. If he could hit 3s consistnetly he would probably be pushing top 10. Kid has a lot of athleticism

I still like James Young. 3 and D players are great on your team i just dont think he is a franchise player and drafting top 10 you want that in this draft.

I am still wanting McDermott with the GSW pick. Although with Burks anchoring the second unit McDermitt wont get as many touches to be the minute man off the bench.

I would even consider GRIII in the twenties but not before.

There is something about Sam Dekker that makes me think the Jazz will look long and hard at him in the 20s. It might be the Hayward comparisons.

TJ warren is also a player in the second round i would love if he falls that far.

Adreian Payne is the stretch 4 the jazz seem to be coveting.

I like Gordon too, but he's a sidekick imo. He has the strive to surpass his perceived ceilings but my feeling watching him play is that he's Scottie, not Michael.
I think Harris and Burks have different skillsets. But if Hayward and Burke are here long term you have a lot of spacing already.
Grant is a poor man's MKG. Maybe Mbah a Moute...Not worth if you're not already in a different development cycle aka you have your core set and build around it.
Young has the most upside out of the sure fire froshmen+SmartExum.
Payne and Warren are intriguing to me. Will probably spend some time on them after the tourney. Too busy watching the weird NBA to do more than looking up their stats from time to time.

That's the question...Young, Gordon have the potential. Vonleh like Embiid is a head scratcher for me. I can't get him sorted. For every good play he does a bad one somewhere else that leaves me questioning his BBIQ. So I'll take a closer look at these two at draft time as well. But right now I'm cautious even if there's a lot to like. If you have another player with a 5% lower ceiling but a 50% higher likelihood of reaching it then I take the safe bet. That's just me though.

He's young and I guess the shooting could improve, but until it does improve, my goodness, have some discipline kid, and pass the damn ball. The one thing I will say about Young, is he looks taller than the 6'6" he's listed at (maybe even closer to 6'8") and he does show some hustle at times.

Young has been a willing passer in highschool. And that's rare with guys who are so talented to pass the ball to inferior kids.
