Could you imagine how insane college bball would be next year (and how crappy the nba would be) if all the freshmen stayed for one more year? Several nba franchises would be screwed. But man, Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, and Kansas would be nasty!

Who would win between Kentucky's fab 5 and Kansas's Big 2?
What about Jabari vs Gordon?

that's how it used to be. sigh

when i complain about college product being down i get laughed at. NBA being watered down, i get laughed at. but just imagine all of these guys stay at least 3 years. the game would be so much better. i mean, we wouldn't have to worry about developing vonleh for next 4 years. we wouldn't have to worry about lack of discipline. don't have to worry about not enough game tape. so on.
 
I agree that having college players stay more than one year would help both leagues. I just don't know how they can stop a player who wants to go to the pros. I would think that the NCAA could create a 2 year minimum play rule if you enter school. Nba could make a rule that would allow anyone wanting to play professionally out of high school be required to play in the D-League for 1 or 2 years. So say Lebron comes out of high school he would have to play one or two years in the D-Leauge or go to college. Players couldn't say they were being kept from earning a living which is the argument used now for allowing them to enter the NBA from High School. Again there are no easy answers but it would be nice to see college teams do more developing of players than the NBA. You pay a kid millions of dollars you want production right away.

After watching the NCAA, I really think that all the top tier players are a year or two away from being the players people think they are. If the Jazz get Wiggins, I am not expecting him to go to the NBA and average 20 pts a game as a rookie. I would be pretty surprised if he did. He will have plenty of good games but he will be inconsistent. I think Randle is going to struggle if he doesn't develop an outside shot. Parker needs to remake his body and that might take a year or two. Of all the players I think Parker is the most ready offensively but I really think he will initially struggle defensively especially if he doesn't get into better shape.

We don't know who has or hasn't declared yet but this draft could still be very good or turn to average very quickly if several of the big names don't enter it.
 
UK lost the game at the free throw line. You don't miss over 10 FTs in a close game and expect to lose against a very good team like UCONN. Congrats to both teams for a fun tournament and game. Congrats to UCONN for being National champions 2014!!!!!
 
i hate the idea of forcing these kids to stay at college. having our kids drafted at 20-22 while international players can get selected at 18 is bogus

while it might not make for the strongest field of play, theres no way you can convince me that a player like Greg Oden wouldent have been royally screwed by this rule

lets say a Kid is #1 coming out of HS, #1 as a freshman and has a bad injury as a sophomore, to me its totally unfair that said player was prevented from making a living when he was ready and able, this isnt football, its not about injury concerns

Brandon Jennings had it right. dude worked himself to clearly the best PG in Highschool in what would have been his freshman year he signs a 1.4 mil contract in Italy and a 2.0mil contract with underarmor

I think it helps the NBA because they can develop the players for longer. Sure, most of the top picks aren't as skilled as they would be if players had to stay in school longer, but they're also 2-3 years younger.

I am one who believes that players have more opportunity to develop skills when basketball is their job as opposed to when they are in school. People wanting to require more school are more concerned about maturity level than oncourt product. Some kids can handle leaving early better than others. It would be unfair to take away the opportunity for kids looking to take advantage of the professional league just because some people make bad decisions.

But, of course, this is going to be the way it is because that's how the nation works for the most part. Don't hold people accountable and encourage them to make better decisions. Instead, let's try to eliminate all possibilities of failure at the expense of others.

21 year old age limit would be ideal. for all kids - both college or international. i'm selfish. i could careless about players. stuff happens. nobody is forcing anybody to play basketball. are they broke? so what? half the americans are broke. if they wanna make money? go to europe or china. they will get paid handsomely.
 
I think I am on the cleanthony early bandwagon with the gsw pick. athletic, ok shooter (37.5%), offensive rebounder, good motor, seems like he can play defense. I think he might be the sleeper pick in this draft.

Aaron Gordon/cleanthony early would be a great draft.
 
Legally, the D-League argument will get torn apart. Sure, they can make a living, but you're putting a false ceiling on their earning potential based solely on age.

Basically "if you were 20 we'd pay you $6mil. How does $200k sound in the meantime? (I have no idea what the D-League pays)".
