Following potential 2014 draftees

I think the biggest upside outside the concensus top8 aka the "best of the rest" have James Young, Dario Saric and Mario Hezonja in case he declares.

With Young it's a lot of background check.
Teams know his college shot selection and lackluster defense.
Everybody also knows that he's got the body and skills to be very good potentially. So if a team considers him in the low teens, they'll have to do a background check going back to his kindergarten and stuff to make sure he isn't JR Smith's secret soul mate.

With the internationals that's obviously a lot harder. Saric might get picked pretty early as well due to his achievements with Cibona Zagreb.

Good post.

I really like the part about being jr smiths secret soul mate.
Lol

Sounds like a job for fabtrey!

yup, Giannis hands are 10" by 10" he wasn't measured officially at the combine though. if that ball has a circumference of 29½" his hands are tremendous

i think the record for biggest hands is Greg Smith 9.8" length, 12" width (dx's database of these #'s is shotty at best)

i wonder how Clint Capela measures up to the Fabtrey standard they say his measurables are Anthony Davis-esque

222lbs, 6'11 in shoes, 7'4½" wingspan, with a 9'2½" standing reach, his athleticism passes the eye test easily, runs like the wind and has effortless and lightning quick lift off the ground

Any news about your guys?

I have inquired. I sincerely believe decisions have not been made yet (other than Randle going). So, I guess I'm saying I don't know anything.

My guess;
Randle - 99%
Young - 70%
WCS - 65%
Harrison's - 65%
Johnson - 50%
Poythress - 45%
Lee - 1%

Harrisons should really go back (ala Trey Burke's sophomore year at MICH), unless Cal already has some superstar PG/SG combo lined up for next year.

Ive been told he is 'definitely' entering... but it's not a usual iron-clad source. Cant imagine he goes back though..

I'd be surprised he'd announce via press conference that he's staying another year. That kind of would be overkill.

Tried to think of a worst case comparison playstyle and personality wise.

Yesterday's DX mock has the Harrisons removed from the 2014 mock. Maybe Givony got a hint about camp Harrison.

First I've seen of this kid, thanks for sharing. Can he do anything besides dunk?

Chads take

Capela has been steadily rising on our draft board all year and will finally get to show his stuff on the big stage of the Nike Hoop Summit this weekend (Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2). He's got size and athletic ability and has been putting up decent numbers in France. If he can have a big game for the international team on Saturday, he could even move up a few more spots on this board.

Harrisons should really go back (ala Trey Burke's sophomore year at MICH), unless Cal already has some superstar PG/SG combo lined up for next year.

Kentucky has Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker.
If the high school scouting services are correct then Ulis prolly won't be ready from the get go and Booker will be slow as well. So there's plenty of room in kentucky's backcourt.

In the frontcourt though you have Trey Lyles and Karl Towns incoming. Both aren't exactly unskilled by what I read. So Marcus Lee and Dakari Johnson would have a lot to do to earn minutes.

That's why I think WCS basically is a lock to declare and should. Especially since his offense didn't improve since his first year. Nothing to learn for a guy like him in school.
In the NBA his low skill level won't ruin everyone else's offense and he'll be able to focus at what he's best at.
Plus he can work individually to develop a little bit of offense with real player development coaches privately and at his ballclub.

I think Poythress will be returning and he looks like the bad useless type of combo forward for NBA standards. I don't think he'll get further than summer league at this point. So prolly it's best for him to work on his outside game get a degree and head oversees as a stretch 4 that is surprisingly bouncy.
