Following potential 2014 draftees

I genuinely want Exum considered, league wide, to be in the mix with the Wiggins/Parker/Embiid group as far as potential franchise cornerstones when the dust settles. That obviously good for us, especially if we pick top 4.

That said, I'm looking over a lot of film from him lately and some of it is convincing me he will be very good and some has me thinking he will be less than great. My biggest concern is, IMO, he isn't an elite athlete.

Now walk with me, Exum lover, and realize I'm not trying to player hate, just trying to talk myself through this in the early stages.

Positives:
-first step
-ability to breakdown a defender, one on one, and collapse a defense (this is obviously huge)
-Length/size
-Passing (seems to find the best shot on the floor)
-defensive upside because of said length

Negatives:
-not elite athletically
-not considered a shooter at this point
-a good deal of unknown or lesser than competition (yes, and some very good)
-looks to play out of control at times

I think come combine and individual workout time we will hear a lot more about how he currently looks and how much he's grown just in working out with Kobe's trainer. That said, if I'm his agent, I very much limit anything athletically at the combine and am pretty strict on individual workout parameters. His stock is very high right now and he has more to lose than gain.

Again, I truly hope he creates a "big 4".

Fair assessment.

Haha I keep laughing at the C4 comment too. I provided the link to the story about Exum and the Lakers and he says nothing of the sort. Like, you can't even try to infer that from any of his quotes.

1.Parker.... Keep Hayward at SG/Burks off the bench
2.Wiggins... Hayward at SF/Burks off bench
3.Embiid... Kanter off the Bench, three head sea monster (package Gobert & GS pick to move up and draft Mcbuckets)
4.Exum... Trade Burke & GS pick for Mcbuckets

No way you bring Kanter off the bench right away if you draft Embiid. He might replace him eventually, but it would be an insult to start Embiid over him right away.

I like exum MUCH better at the one than the two.
Burks gets bullied by shooting guards in the league and he has decent size.

D wade, harden, wes matthews, hell even finesse guys like klay thompson would push exum around and post him up and punish him all day on the defensive end.
He wieghs 185 right?

I do like him at the point guard alot though. I have always wanted to have a big long point guard with big strides and a great first step.
I think if the jazz draft exum and he is as good as his hype says he is, then we should start taking offers for trey

You're in the minority on that thinking (but I agree with you).

The hype around Exum is so big I won't be surprised if he just does private workouts (by himself) and measures out. For sure won't do combine workouts and might not do athletic testing. He has nearly a year to work on his athletic numbers though (yes, you can artificially inflate them by training for the test).

Exum at point? I have no idea if he can, but we don't even know enough about him to know if he is even that great at basketball, much less able to be a NBA PG.

If the Jazz draft Exum, I think he starts at the SG, and slides to PG with Burks in a 2-guard front with the 2nd unit.

This could be touchy with Burks though.
