Great post. I think him not playing at the beginning of the year created a narrative that really hurt his stock. Gotta love that we're in a pretty good spot to get either Oubre or Turner.

Oubre sounds extremely coky/confident. Claims he is a great defender and that his BBall IQ, shooting and handle are better than expected. Say he can match up to and be better than Leonard, Harden and Butler.

Also Locke says that the Jazz FO will have worked out over 100 prospects after it's all done. That seems like a ton. just one more reason I like this FO and coaching staff. They are putting in the work and looking everywhere for the right players.

In my opinion Oubre might have the most potential to be a star of all the guys rumored to. Be available when the jazz pick. Hes just got great physical skills. He's only going to get bigger. He's going to beat the hell out of other sg's and a lot of sf's I like his shooting stroke and think he can get it off at anytime. He has lots of talent if he matures he could be a great 2 way player.
If he's available, I don't think the jazz can afford to pass him up.

IMO, Oubre has the better looking shot, but Johnson is a better overall player. I like Johnson's leadership and hustle shown and think that those are characteristics that he showed at Arizona too. I like both of them as long shooting guards between Hayward and Exum. Both guys have 2 way potential IMO. I am impressed by Oubre's defensive instincts and how he uses his wingspan to defect passes and get steals. If they're both on the board, I still take Stanley Johnson.

Not sure what you mean about my intentions, but yes, I think that Hezonja has more potential than Burks does to make our starting 5 championship caliber (which should always be the priority, with the bench/depth coming second). As of right now, our personnel decisions should be made around the idea that Exum, Hayward, Favors, & Gobert are our core. With Gobert having limited range, Favors likely being limited to mid-range, & Exum looking like a good but not great shooter, I believe that whoever our 5th starter of the future is needs to be a great shooter & offensive player. Hood may turn out to be that guy, in which case Burks would make a great 6th man, but since Burks is likely not that guy, nor will that guy likely be available at #12, I think it makes sense to combine those 2 assets (#12/Burks) in order to acquire someone who could potentially be that guy. It's a risk, but so is assuming that Hood will develop into a championship caliber starter, & unless the FO deems Hezonja uncoachable/potentially detrimental to team chemistry, I think it's a risk worth taking. To clarify, I don't think Burks is a bad shooter, & while I was impressed by his improvement, his game/style of play will always be attacking the hoop, & I believe that we need someone who looks to shoot more rather than drive in the starting 5.

Oubre has better guard skills; he has a lower, more shifty handle and better shooting mechanics for NBA 3's. Stanley really has an explosive first step for someone that size, he's also got quick hands, overall Oubre shows better quickness and fluidity though. I think its fairly straightforward that Johnson is more ready right now and if it all clicks for Oubre, he's got the higher ceiling/more star potential.
Kelly was probably at his highest point on these mocks right after this Addidas Nations camp, IIRC DX had him as the 1st wing off the board.

My Order of preference Russell>Winslow>Hezonja>Johnson>Porzingas>WCS=Oubre>Turner. I didn't include Okafor/Towns/Mudiay as they will be long gone, and I wouldn't want the Jazz to move up for them. Russell would likely cost too much too, and I almost didn't include him because the cost would definitely be more than I want to spend. I don't know enough about Porzingas to put him higher, and don't think he could starton this team with Favors/Gober, so wouldn't want to give up a lot to get him. I also am undecided over WCS and oubre. I'd almost rather go with Oubre's upside, but WCS as a 3rd big would make an awesome defense.
Unfortunately I have only talked about 11 guys there, so hopefully Jazz move up 3-4 spots and get the guy DL believes in, or someone else jumps into the top 11.
