Wings are perimeter players... You guys are overthinking this a bit.

I actually believe there ate

Point guards
Off guards
Combo guards
Shooting guards
Wings
Small forwards
Forwards
Power forwards
Point forwards
Stretch 4s
Center
Power forwards/centers

So yes I am waaaaaaaay over thinking it

A wing is a SG or a SF - it's a way to use one term to describe two positions that are often completely interchangeable. So, a combo guard like Russell can technically be called a wing, but to just call him a guard is the more appropriate/accurate description.

Iawtp

Another word to describe Russell just might be GOAT, tbh.

In all seriousness though, I wonder when the last time was a freshman guard playing in a major conference was as productive as Russell has been so far - 20 ppg on 48%, 45% 3pt, 6 reb, 5 asts.

Just sick numbers.

Basketball reference goes back to the 97-98 season, and the answer to my question is that guys just don't have seasons like Russell is having. I searched all players, all classes, all conferences, and nobody has put up those numbers across the board like Russell - the elite 3pt shooting being what separates him. But even take out the three point shooting, only two guys have averaged 20, 6 and 5 over the last 17 years.
