There just isn't a good track record for 4th year college players taken in the lottery in recent history.

My thinking is we're 9th now and all teams below us are all Eastern teams fighting for the 8th seed (BOS, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Indy) with just 1-2 games between them. I just think it's unlikely any of these teams will "fade" like previous years.


Based on that logic I just think our backstop is #9.

That logic makes no sense. The Eastern teams suck and will continue to suck. Just because one of them is going to crap their way into the playoffs doesn't make them not suck. Jazz don't suck and aren't going to tank. They might have a harder schedule, but are a better team. They will continue to win games and end up with a record good enough to make the playoffs in the east and pick 12 imo.

Exactly the point. Utah is currently 9th but is playing the best of all the teams that are 8-12. They're only 1 1/2 games behind Charlotte and Brooklyn. Utah also has a relatively easy schedule. Next 10 games we only play 2 teams with winning records. I guess we can "hope" to lose a couple of those, especially to Boston and Brooklyn. WE also have a light edge over the last 14 in the sense we're playing WC teams and the EC non-playoff teams should have some games to play against each other.

Neto looked VERY good. He's not afraid to take it inside. Jazz would be crazy not to bring him over. Who cares if he beats out Exum? Competition may be just the thing Exum needs to light a fire under him.
 
If we didn't need offense so bad, I'd be down with bringing Neto over as our backup.

Maybe we could package Burke, Burks and some picks for something legit...move up for Russell???
