Following potential 2015 draftees

Can you guys think of any wing players who couldnt shoot in college and went on to be a decent shooter in the league? I really like RHJ but i worry about dat shot!

Right now Booker is probably my favorite option at #12.

I'm fine with Kaminsky at 12 if they stay put and nobody falls, but I'd MUCH rather move up into the top 10 and take a shot on a guy with higher upside. Taking Frank just feels like settling. This team has the room, the coach and the assets to take some chances.

If we're talking about drafting bench guys who fill specific roles, the RHJ should be in the conversation. Elite perimeter defense. . . at worst, he's a younger, better version of Elijah Millsap. I think Quin proved that he's willing to work with that skillset. But not in the lottery. Buy a late pick, or pass.

I like Locke and think he's great to have as an insider but I wouldn't trust him on Frank. I'm not even sure he's watched him... He hates college basketball.

Yep, Locke is great when you want a guy who can read a stat sheet and pick out interesting little tidbits. Not sure why anyone would put too much value into his opinions on college players when he hates the college game and doesn't watch it.

Steve Novak has managed to stay in league for 9 years now.
The only thing Novak can do is flat out shoot.
Kaminsky seems to be a better more versatile player.

Tyler Hansbrough did well because he was allowed to travel across the court and he shot like 10+ FT's a game. He was not skilled. Kaminsky is skilled.

DL made a lot of the case against drafting Frank already. Klay led the PAC 10 in scoring his sophomore year and Steph led Davidson on a huge tourney run his soph year. On the other hand, you have Jimmer, Evan Turner, Adam Morrison, Wesley Johnson who blew up late. You can counter Lockes point all you want but the guy has a point.

Wesley Johnson is still a role player in the NBA... Ammo had a horrible knee injury that ended his career... Evan Turner is still a rotation player in the NBA, and Jimmer suxx.

Jimmy Butler didn't do much his freshman year and was okay his sophomore year and was drafted as a 21.5 year old. Demarre Carroll went to 4 years of school and wasn't great until his Senior year. Klay Thompson led the PAC 10 in scoring as a sophomore... he averaged 19.4 points per game shooting 15.6 shots per game and committing 3.5 TO... 40.7% shooting... they went 16-15 that year.

All I am saying is if your argument starts with "he played 4 years of college basketball and only dominated for 2 of them" and never addresses his skills at all then your argument is stupid. I can say you should never draft a freshman or sophomore in the top 10 because look how that turned out for Anthony Bennett, Dion Waiters, Jonny Flynn, Michael Beasley, Greg Oden... If you hand pick the examples you use rather than looking at the entire sample you can make the data say whatever you want. There are a ton of examples of teams taking big swings on guys in the 9-14 range and them sucking badly.

I'd rather watch the guy and see what he does and think will what he does translate at the next level? I might also look at a few numbers and realize how dominant this guy was versus how dominant the other "busts" were and ask if he's different.
