Lets say yes, but compare him to Draymond Green instead of LeBron.
I think he is strong enough to guard 4s and would certainly cause matchup issues on the other end.
I really like him... I would trade our pick this year and next year to move up and take him.
I like this assessment, I think he's a little bit better ballhandler, not quite the shooter, and obviously not as strong yet. But in a couple years time I could see him playing some minutes at the 4 for sure. And he's still 18, his birthday is at the end of May.

here is a stat to look at when it comes to the draft. the 2 best teams in the nba are Atlanta and golden state. I think most would agree. both teams are also the 2 best teams in 3 pt field goals bot at about 40%. the jazz need shooting. hezonja I think is the best fit but booker is next.

I agree we need shooting, but I'd like to see how the playoffs play out before declaring the best teams in the league. I think our model is the grizz. They might be the team best suited for the playoffs. Obviously they'd be better if they had some more shooting to go with that D.
If we're picking #12 - #14, then I'd look really hard at Jerian Grant.. this guy has potential to be a very good combo guard. Good length & decent athleticism, has a nice handle as he's the primary ball handler, likes to pass (6.6 assists). I think he's somebody you can groom (ala Hayward & Burks, into a pretty nice ball handler/distributor/attacker for the future.

Jerian Grant is legit. He's a true point at 6'5", great passer and playmaker who can also defend the two with his size. Add to that he's an explosive athlete and it's kind of surprising he's not consensus top 10.
Stanley Johnson has hit just 4 of his last 16 3-pt. attempts, he shot just 3/19 in the Utah game and 1/9 against UCLA. Considering he's bigger and stronger than the competition, I have concerns about his real offensive output in the pros, when he'll be going up against people his size/length. Bad days happen for sure, but 3/19 is like MCW bad. Johsnon is shooting under 33% in his last 5 games combined.
I'm just saying, if he's anywhere near this streaky a shooter in the pros he might be a lot like James Johnson. There's some risk here.

I think his age & shooting is probably the biggest knock, kinda like MCW? I do agree that he has great potential as a playmaker in the Jazz offense kinda like the way we're currently using Ingles (and more recently Hood) to initiate the offense.

Age, maybe. But Grant can shoot. 50% FGs, and he is a career 35% 3pt shooter 80% FTs. Not great, but his shot isn't broken. By comparison, MCW was at 39% FGs, 29% 3pt, 69% FT. Completely different shooting numbers.
He's a value pick for sure.
