Thanks for the info, I may be off on most of my post but I am certainly not off on 1 thing. When you play with a bunch of great players you're going to get easier shots than if you're playing with a bunch of no ones. You have to double on more than a few Kentucky players. I like Booker but not until 12 or so.
Looking at the some of the NCAA guards/wings advanced stats in case anyone hasn't glanced at them:
Player- Usage- TS%- Reb%- Ast%- TOV%- OBPM/DBPM- PER
Russel- 29.9%- 58%- 10%- 31%- 15%- 9.4/3.0- 27.8
Johnson- 27.1%- 55%- 14%- 13%- 15%- 4.8/5.7- 22.9
Oubre- 22.8%- 55%- 14%- 9%- 11%- 5.5/3.9- 22.1
Booker- 23.5%- 61%- 5%- 12%- 10%- 7.8/2.0- 21.2
Winslow- 22.7%- 56%- 12%- 13%- 14%- 4.6/4.1- 20.5
Grant- 24.3%- 60%- 5%- 34%- 13%- 8.5/1.0- 26.9
Some things I feel like I get out of all them dang numbers. Russell/Grant are obviously in a league of their own for offensive creation (OBPM/AST%). Though Grant's usage number was lower than I anticipated. On the other side of the ball Johnson is ahead of the others by a ways. All of their TS% seem solid to me, though Booker's the best of the group. All in all they all seem like more than solid prospects and I'd be happy to have any of them in Utah.
naive question here:
If Stauskas and Booker were in the same draft, how would they be ranked and compared?
Thanks.
Walt Perrin, VP of Player Personnel, just had an interview and said some interesting stuff... He said he's been watching the college game more than the Jazz and is preparing for the draft. He said he's looking at players who can shoot and make plays for teammates, because our defense is good, but we need improvements on offense. When asked if he's fallen in love with some player in the draft who would be worth maybe using our assets for us to throw in and get, he said "yes, there are a couple of guys, that would probably be taken before we pick". Several times he emphasized looking for great outside shooting.
If I had to guess, he's talking about Russell and probably Hezonja?
If those are unavailable I think that makes Booker really intriguing for the FO.
Thanks for posting I will give it a listen, but in general Walt is terrible.
