Following potential 2015 draftees

^^^

We only need a back up SF though right with Hayward starting? Now that Hood seems like a solid starter at SG. No need to go out and spend too much on another SF to just come off the bench IMO ...

1. If we go with SF with our 1st rounder, then bring over Pleiss as a backup Center.

2. If we go with C/PF with our 1st rounder, then why not pick a defensive SF with our 2nd rounder? We have Ingles as our insurance policy anyway right?

Can't rely on a second rounder. If they aren't getting one of Tomic/Pleiss, and they draft a big in the first (Kaminsky, WCS, Turner) then get a SF through FA (Green, Green, Green, Junk yard dog) (I'm only joking about how many Green's there are as FA, don't really think Draymond is an option).

SG will be stacked next year with Hood starting, Burks off the bench (big minutes) and Millsap if need be.

At SF, Hayward is gonna play what 35min as a starter, Ingles has shown he can play big minutes and contribute.

My question is - why do we need to pay $$$ to Green/Carroll to just come off the bench? Why not have Ingles back up Hayward and groom another SF if need be.

We don't, but I'd rather have Ingles as a 11th 12th guy than 8th guy getting regular minutes. They could play Hood a bit with the second team as SF and have a 3 man rotation with Burks, Hayward and Hood. Ingles would play 10 minutes a game, and more when one of them is injured. I'd be fine with that. But I also wouldn't mind if they got a good SF to play along side Burks in the second unit (I like somehow getting Stanley Johnson for Defense at backup SF and also playing some PF with a small ball). They do need a backup C though, and if Tomic or Pleiss isn't coming over they may use their draft pick on one.

As far as paying the money Jazz have cap space for the next 2 years before needing to sign Rudy, and will likely have plenty that year. Nothing wrong with having a solid player like that on the bench (although I don't know if they would sign knowing they would likely come off the bench). But with the right player, even Hood could be moved to the bench as SF. Don't know that I like that idea, but it is an option. Right now the Jazz are in a pretty good spot with A lot of options.

this is why I say trade down and get Justin Anderson or trade out and get KJ mcdaniels. both are intense defenders and have shown the ability to hit the 3 ball. both are super athletic and like to defend.

KJ can't throw it in the ocean... Shoots 29% from 3. He's cute and all and he makes spectacular plays here and there but he's a terrible fit for us.

Problem is we need Gobert on the court more than anyone, and going by his minutes recently, Quin agrees. Rudy's minutes are averaging 36 a game recently.
Neither Rudy or Frank can play PF, so 12 minutes as a backup is not worth it for a valuable lottery pick.

Idk for sure if it would work, but it's a possibility. If anyone can make up for Kaminsky's defensive lapses, it's Gobert. The main problem would be whether that duo could guard stretch 4's.

Chandler/Dirk worked really well, so I wouldn't automatically assume that Gobert/Kaminsky wouldn't, too, for stretches.

Dirk is way more mobile than Kaminsky.

I think that's the case with just about anyone we draft.
Bigs: Rudy 35, Favors 35, Booker 15, Fourth big 11 mins?
Wings: Hayward 33, Burks 25, Hood 25, Fourth wing 13 mins? (But also include mins for Millsap and/or Ingles?)
PG: Dante 30, 2nd/3rd PG 18.

Really, the best draft alternative would be to replace Burke with a very good rookie PG. I don't see us getting Russell or Mudiay, though
Next best alternative, IMO, is to prepare for perhaps losing Booker as an UFA in the summer of insanity (2016). Money is going to be tossed around like candy. A stretch-4 to develop would be nice (Porzingis?). Or maybe a 4/5 like Turner. May depend on the status of Tomic/Pleiss. I'll bet Lindsey wll ask for a pre-draft commitment from Tomic if he's going to make the jump.

Be careful what you wish for though... Kanter & Gobert didn't work too well.
