What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

couple things

- booker has only a partial guarantee next year. even if the jazz draft a 4 I could see them keep both just to develope the pick beside booker could be awesome trade material next with his contract.

- jazz seem to be craving a stretch 4. lyles and portis do seems to be fitting that bill some. I like lyles the most because I think he can also get some minutes at the 3 in a big line up. I am not as concerned about his 3 point shot because his form looks good. looney is another option here too.

- I haven't seen a lot of Hayes but what I have seen is if he can't play the 3 at the next level he is nothing more then a second round pick. he is listed at 6-7 and that just isn't going to cut it as a 4 in the nba. he does have good size for a 3.

From what I've watched of Nigel Hayes I'm not sure why people think he going to play some PF. He's pretty clearly a small forward.

Looney and him are waaaay different. Looney is a rebound/putback guy at this point and Hayes works a lot on the perimeter. I've been pretty down on Looney but I'd take him in the late teens early twenties... Just never watched him and thought "that guy should go top ten".

I'm high on both Lyles and Looney. Lyles is my preference between the two. His polish, skillset, and fluidity at that size is very rare. He'd be the perfect big to play inside/outside to pair with our two (soon to be three?) towers inside.

IMO, I doubt he makes it to 12. Once he's out of the shadow of the 19 other first rounders at Kentucky, I think he'll shine in workouts and get picked in the 7-10 range.

1 more thing

- this offseason I see the teams that can throw money around. lock these players into contracts now before the tax goes up. like people have said Hayward's contrat will be very reasonable next offseason. I would love to see the jazz go hard after Middleton

The big question right now is whether the Jazz can draft a wing or forward who is better than Rodney Hood. Otherwise, they're drafting for back-up players.

As for guys they might like later in the draft, keep an eye on:

Lyles
Portis
Harrell

Any of them could become the back-up to replace some of what we lost with Kanter.

I would love Harrell, does dumb **** fairly often but plays hard, is a bad *** and has some nice touch. Would be a solid 3rd or 4th big.

I'm also kind of expecting Nigel to return to Madison, but if he did come out he's a guy I'd look at in the 2nd round or trading into the late first to get for sure. As for his size I've seen him listed at 6'7 and 6'8, so I'd be interested in seeing his official measurements. Either way he seems like a guy who could do some time at either forward position to me. 'Bout the same size as Paul Millsap.

With David Stockton's success in the DLeague Kyle Draginisis from Gonzage is a tough as nails 6'5" PG with basically crappy stats. He did score in double figures vs. BYU in the WCC Championship game but I think he might be worth either a 2nd round pick at best of an invitation to summer league.
