Following potential 2015 draftees

Watched first 8 min. of this Barca game, Porzingis looking like a legit top #10 pick. He's shooting it. He's blocked a shot. He's getting alley hoop dunk, he's driving & drawing foul, also scoring one on one on the low post.

Would be interested to see what the Jazz thinks about Porzingis vs Kaminsky.

I'd roll the dice and take Porzingis, way too much upside there.

As much as i like Kaminsky no doubt whom to pick there. Remember Porzingis is still only 19. Plays in the 3rd best league in the world (Nba, Euroleague, Spanish League) against grown men. Chances of Nowitski are slim of course, but what about a bigger version of Mirotic with a better 3pt shot.

The thing with Porzingis is - offensively he can be even better - he is athletic to add to the shooting touch, like... he's freaky athletic for his size. He dunks absolutely everything anywhere near the rim. If there is a player in this draft for whom "plays above the rim" is in full force, this is it. It's Porzingis. I don't think he's as skilled and as high IQ as Mirotic, though. That's the thing that ultimately concerns me most. The lack of bball IQ is very visible both in his passing game and in his off-ball-defense. But he surely has a ton of potential.

But he seems like a willing passer and a willing learner (ala Gobert). He is unlike Kanter who seems cluless on defense, Porzingis moves well on pnr defense, very agile. He seems like a bright & clued up and under Quin's tutelage I do think Porzingis can blossom.

True, but he is also 5 years younger than Mirotic so still time to grow the IQ.

The thing is I think the Jazz are past developing players and more into players that con contribute right away. Hnce the talk of trading the pick. Jazz need the playoffs next year and contending the next. That is the only knock on Hezonja right now is he is not ready right now and 1 to 2 years away. Winslow can contribute day one as can Johnson. Oubre is development player. Kaminsky can play day one.

Which is why I want the Jazz to use their 2016 pick to move up in the draft to around 5-7. Get your pick of the second tier guys. Jazz will be still somewhat developing next year, but will be ready for a runs in 2017, and might end up with 3 first round picks then. OKC is right now at the 19th pick, their pick this year is top 18 protected I believe, so if they stay there, Jazz could get their pick in 2017 instead of 2018.

Only thing that bothers me a about Porzingis is his frame. I wonder how much muscle he can put up. If he can't handle NBA physiciality, he will solely be a stretch-4.

Porzingis has great mobility for a 7-footer. He's not just a stretch shooter, but a guy who will be tough to guard all over the floor.

The knock on Porz is that he has low effort and IQ on defense...
