What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

Jazz have a lot of options and look long and hard at Looney, lyles, portis and Kaminsky, but feel Kaminsky is the best fit with the roster they have and will help the team make a push next year for the play offs. He can add a lot of the offensive talent of Kanter with better defense.

I'm excited about that prospect also PLUS:

- Kaminsky seems to be a lot smarter as a team player - you can run plays through him, the ball seems to 'stuck' with Kanter

- He is a decent passer also with 2.6 assists per game

- He already has a much better range than Kanter too shooting 41.6% from college 3's.

BUT my main concern would be whether he has NBA strength and quickness to defend in the NBA. Also if he is indeed our future 3rd big, the Gobert/Kaminsky lineup could mean one of them will have to guard quicker stretch 4's and that could be an issue.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but if Kaminsky turns out to be Channing Frye, which seems like a decent comparison for where he could end up, does that make you more or less excited about him?

So Frye is a 10 point 5 rebound per game nine year vet.
Frye only averages one assist per game.
Kaminsky should be able to match that with more assists.
I would be OK with that.

My guess is that we will draft whoever remains out of:

(In no particular order)

Towns
Okafor
Russell
Mudiay
Hezonja
Winslow
WCS
Turner
Porzingis
Johnson
Booker
Kaminsky

I feel like people didn't watch frank enough. He isn't just a spot up guy like Frye is... Great off the pump fake and drive... Great passer. I think he's much more brad miller, memo okur.

Frank is going to be difficult to cover in the high post can shoot pass or drive. He didn't get there much in college because there is no high post in college cuz the spacing is poop.

What makes a stretch big a stretch big is that they can stretch the defense with shooting. That term has nothing to do with quickness, and neither Gobert nor Favors have an issue with agility. The issue is that someone has to stay with a shooter, and that's always been the issue.

Well let's say going up against the Bogut/Green lineup. If Favors is on the bench, one of Gobert/Kaminsky would have to chase Green around the perimeter, which would be a tough ask for either one of them.

Yeah, Frank looks pretty good to me. I'm a little bit racist I guess because on first glance he just looks like a lurpy white stiff. But he's no idiot and has gotten better all his 4 years of NCAA ball. Put some muscle on him and he should be pretty good. His offense is just what the Jazz need. His 3pt % is about same as Booker's (in a spot the Jazz need).

One question: how is his lateral quickness? He's not explosive, no, but he's smart and seems to play passable defense. Right? I saw him in the tournament and he looked ok.

1. It wouldn't be for Favors, except for him wanting to or being asked to also protect the rim simultaneously.
2. Kaminsky's only positive attributes that he has defensively is his mobility and effort.
3. "Chasing"? Do Golden State run him off screens to get him shots?
