What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

1. It wouldn't be for Favors, except for him wanting to or being asked to also protect the rim simultaneously.
2. Kaminsky's only positive attributes that he has defensively is his mobility and effort.
3. "Chasing"? Do Golden State run him off screens to get him shots?

Green mostly spots up... Not really an issue. The bigger issue would be switching on pick and rolls. He won't be a good defender... If he was he'd be picked higher than 12. No perfect players where we are drafting.

Let's not get too specific with this example. I like Kaminsky at #12, but I'm afraid teams would simply go 'small ball' when Gobert/Kaminsky pairing is on the floor.

Well let's say going up against the Bogut/Green lineup. If Favors is on the bench, one of Gobert/Kaminsky would have to chase Green around the perimeter, which would be a tough ask for either one of them.

that is why you have a coach that would recognize that and sub booker in to guard.

Memphis showed that they could also punish gsw when they did on the other end but the jazz don't have a post player like Randolph.

I'm thinking the Jazz will go for a multi-skilled big---Turner, Kaminsky, Looney, Lyles, maybe Portis (though his interview I saw was pretty raw).

The only exception would be someone prominent dropping (like Johnson) or Booker blowing the Jazz away in workouts.

I think the Jazz will try hard to trade up for Porzingis.

So all another team has to do to get Kaminsky off the floor is go 'small ball' then?

that is not what I said. kaminsky and booker would be on the floor. green won't play all game and then speights comes in that is a good match up for kaminsky. coaches should play to mismatches

Regardless of whether teams go small or not, we want our bigs to be able to switch and guard on the perimeter in order for our schemes to work. This is what I wonder about with Kaminsky and Lyles.

Yeah exactly. I still think Quin can make it work. Kaminsky's skill and shooting is too good to pass up.

I haven't watched a lot of CHI ball but they do start Noah next to Pau... would be interested to see how Thibodeau designed a defensive scheme that works with those 2 on the floor at the same time.

Portis. Watch the videos of him switching on the perimeter. Favor-esque.
