Following potential 2015 draftees

His usage in UCLA was suspect. Whenever I was watching them, I was constantly getting frustrated by how little he was touching the ball and how their ball-hogging guards were chucking shot after shot. It is very possible that his performance might have been understated because of the system and the way he was used and he might explode in the right situation in the league. I wouldn't mind drafting him at 12 at all... he'd need time offensively though.

I wonder what was your stance on Noah Vonleh last year?

I think basketball is becoming more and more position-less. The Warriors win with Green as their center and Barnes as their power forward.

When you have the best shooter of all time teamed up with one of the best shooters in the NBA it really doesn't matter about position. But who has that kind of luxury? Just look at Atlanta. They've tried to go position less team ball and it ain't working. The Suns tried it in the 2000s too.

The difference is as good as Teaque and co have been, they're nothing compared to the Splash Bros. As good as Nash was, he wasn't the freak that Curry is. But let's see if GS can maintain this. They still haven't won anything yet.

I think it goes in cycles. Right now we are in a different era. But I wouldn't be surprised to see big men and the defined positions make a come back soon. Just look at how devastating Rudy was this past year. If he develops a post game? If Favors can continue to be solid? The Jazz will be a WC challenger for years to come.

Anyone think this Warriors team could beat out any of the Spurs championship teams? How about any of the Kobe Shaq lakers teams?

I think positions still matter. The difference is, Curry is a freak and having an all time great season. While GS is uber loaded and the rest of the league has few big men to speak of.

Perhaps this draft gives the NBA the bigs it needs to restore balance?

IMO, having a dominant big (and defined roles) still gives you the best chance of winning. It's like having a solid defense and run offense in football. It's boring but sure is effective.

Can we let GSW win ONE championship before we start discussing where they fit amongst the greatest teams of the last 20 years? please?

If looney is successful it is as a stretch, face up, power forward who can switch out in screens and cause issues defensively. When I watched him I was never impressed. People say he's great in practice... I'm a little skeptical. I would prefer him to lyles and Portis. I'd take kaminsky before looney but my thoughts are already known on Frank.

If Looney were, like, 10% more mobile (laterally), then he'd be on my short list. But I'm suspicious about whether he can play at SF... if he could, though, he'd be much more interesting.

They have some very similar traits coming out of college indeed. I was very high on him last year. I thought he was a steal for the Hornets at 9. I think I even had us picking him in one of my mocks before the draft(which right now seem ridiculous) :o I still think he's a good prospect. I wonder what the horncats are going to do with him.

Vonleh was more strictly a 4 and had low bbiq. I think he was a monster defensively though and thought he can stretch the floor for us(both were things we needed a lot at the time). He was a bit of a black hole on offense and didn't have a good feel for the game. I think Looney has much better feel and bball IQ. He's much skinnier than Vonleh coming out of college though. I am still not sure what position he plays in the NBA. To me he looks like a 4 much more than a 3, but he does have the quickness and length to get switched on smaller players(something our defensive system will probably rely on a lot in the future). His offensive skill level is not very high right now though.

Could anyone explain to me why Frank K isn't listed higher on mock drafts? To me, he looks like and plays exactly like Pau Gasol. Neither are explosive athletes. But both are 7 feet tall, extremely skilled, and very fluid in their movements.

Even if Frank "busts" isn't he still better than most centers/PFs coming off the bench? I'm thinking even if he busts he's still Money Memo lite as his 3 pt shot will always be a threat that teams must defend against.

Frank, Book, Burks, off the bench? Yes please. Add Patty Mills to the act and we will be in the playoffs no sweat next year.
Scouts don't trust prospects that stay 4 years in school. They seem to think there must be something wrong with them. Plus though he is very talented his potential is lower then others. A lot of that is because he's older.

I know some athletes tend to do better in the pros
Exactly. I think we should go for a guy with a lot of potential upside, high reward, high risk type of guy.

A nice little tidbit for Looney is he lead the Pac-12 in offensive rebounds this year.
Looking at guys like Carroll and Korver. Kaminsky would be perfect for QS to get his hands on. Don't think Korver or Carroll ever had very much upside. QS took these players and did some fine tuning to make them better. Q could do for Kaminsky what he did for Korver and Carroll. He turned their weaknesses into weapons. Kaminsky has a nice face up game good shooter and passer. Just think if Q helped to improve his post up game.

Only thinking that Q can only help the upside guys is false. He has more of a track record with the Carrolls of the NBA. In that case we should be looking hard at Kaminsky.
