Following potential 2015 draftees

Something I like (and I think the Jazz like) is that he can grab a rebound and push the ball up the floor. He's a decent ball handler and can get the offense set up or make a play.

How about just signing Al Farouq Aminu...

Posted it before and I'll post it again; He can do most everything the Aaron Gordon supporters were hoping for - last year it would've cost a pittance, still will be a great value tho.

He proved his worth in that series vs Houston; making 3's (7 for 11) and defending Harden(even forced him to a 8 second halfcourt violation) without missing a step crashing the boards or filling the lanes.

I do like franks game. The post moves and patience are really good and his face up game is nice. Not many guys at his size attempt and make step back threes. The thing that concerns me with Kaminsky is his body. Hes only 230 lbs and not very explosive and fully grown. In the nba hes going to get pushed off the block and not have many straight lines to the hoop because hell get pushed off balance. Hell be a nice player but i dont think hell be versatile playmaking big. I think hell be a stretch big like olynyk or channing frye. Even then i have some reservations because in the game olynyk tore off kloves arm, he made an athletic play where he stole the ball and ran down court for a all-in-stride, off-one-leg jam in traffic. I remember hinking olynyk is more athletic than people give him credit for. Im not sure frank has olynyks level of athleticism. That said, he could be a good situational player in my opinion. I just dont love him at 12.

I think kaminsky can have a Channing frye effect on the jazz. I think that comparison is spot on.
That's a horrible comp!! All Frye does is spot up for threes. Kaminsky actually has a post up and face up game and has elite Hanes as a big man

If he's sooooooo good why does he go from team to team. And even bad shooters get hot from time to time. Ur really stuck on him. Lmao

If Olynyk is underrated then Kaminsky is very underrated athletically. Also Kaminsky is the same size as both Gasol and Dirk when they came out. I think he'll be fine.

I finally watched some videos of some of the guys being talked about for the jazz.
My list:
1. Frank
2. oubre
3. portis
4. looney
5. turner

I don't know what it is about turner that turns me off...... When I watch his videos I just get a feeling that he wont be very good or he will be injured.

Maybe the guy that the Jazz draft will eventually work on his game enough to merit being defended by the other team. Aminu more or less is what he is. I agree there are plenty of guys who can do what he does. A pick on a rookie contract won't be pricy either. I think it's safe to say his 7/11 performance is an outlier, as well as being a comically small sample size. Also, on a team with little spacing available, he would bring things closer to a Detroit Pistons level. Yeah, few rookies will be better than Aminu initially, but at least they might improve their skills while in Utah.

I have to see more athletic plays from frank. Maybe youre right but i just havent seen any. He might be the same size as Gasol and Dirk but hes older. 230 lbs at 22 is more concerning than 230 at 19 or 20. I also dont think Kaminsky is remotely as talented as either. Ive bulked a fair bit after 22 so I think frank can get bigger, but hes not going to change his fundamental body type which is long and finesse archetype, not a banger. Playmaking bigs can bang a little. Draymond, Meek Mills-ap, et al. Although, if frank is matched with a 3, maybe it will all be moot and he can take the smaller player situationally. But why dont we see ryan anderson and olynyk do these things? I have my reservations on frank.

My rankings of who will be available at #12

Kaminsky
Pain
Lyles
Grant
Portis
Dekker
Booker
Wright

As u can see I'm hard up to get a pg to replace Burke. Not a huge fan of Booker. I don't like his athletic ability and there really isn't room for him on the team. Kaminsky Lyles and Portis bring an added dimension to the team off the bench. Dekker, I think can play the 3 or 4. Grant is a big guard that can come off the bench and score. Wright intrigues me as a bigger less crazy Rondo with an improving shot. Could end up being the steal of the draft.

Those guys were never known for being good post up players in ncaa. Someone posted a link to an article showing that Kaminsky was I think the second most effective post player in the nation. Post play is not about strength or being bigger. It helps but the most important thing is footwork and Kaminsky is not short on that. Also If u don't even think Kaminsky can be a play maker then you've never seen him play and doing your best Locke impersonation.

I thought this was interesting. Lamarcus Aldridge and Myles Tuner's freshman year's at Texas:

GP MPG PPG FG% 3FG% .......FT% APG RPG BPG SPG
34 22.2 10.1 45.5 27.4 .........83.9 0.6 ..6.5 2.6 0.3
16 22.2 09.9 66.3 00.0 .........65.7 0.9 ..5.9 1.5 1.1

Only differences:
FG% -- Turner's is lower but that might be because he took 3pt shots, whereas Aldridge did not.
FT% -- Turner's is higher.
BPG/SPG - Turner is better blocks/Aldridge is better steals.

This just makes me like Turner even more. Aldridge is a stud now, and seeing the similar freshman year stats gives me a chub.

Olynyk played a fair bit of post in college. It surprised the jazz when they found he could shoot. But its fair to say he didnt post as much as frank. Ive seen plenty of frank. Watched all the wisconsin games because i have a man crush on nigel hayes. I just am not sure if he can do it at an nba level. Maybe he can but man i just want one of those playmaking 4s. I dont think frank is that. The guys lowe referenced are thick, mobile, athletic, ball handling bigs with shooting touch and high bball iqs. Sort of wing forwards / point forwards. Frank is not that. But frank will be a useful player in other ways i have no doubt. I just like other guys at 12.
