Following potential 2015 draftees

So if Tomic does come over next season who should Jazz pick?
Moving up does not seem as urgent.
Who or what should Jazz take at #12?

I've been wondering the same thing....

If they know Tomic is a certainty the draft options change.

Upside, insane offensive potential with shot blocking in defense. . With him almost everything is potential and measurables though. There are many unknowns about the way he will translate in the league. His body and strength is a huge work in progress and that will hinder his man defense at the beginning of his NBA career. His awareness in D is suspect. His bball IQ is a bit questionable too. But he is a very mobile, very long 7 footer who can shoot 3s, turn around jumpers, off the curl jumpers, can put it on the floor a bit(needs a bit more work on handle) and drive to the hoop, dunks everything around the rim, runs the floor very well, especially for 7 footer... There's plenty to like, but also plenty to be worried about...

I don't see Utah trading the only player they have that has shown potential to be a high volume high accuracy 3p shooter, especially with all the repeating statements from FO members that we need shooting.

Thanks for the info. I'm still not too high on him. He's weak and soft but I like Turner and he's weak and soft too. Except he's a much better shot blocker. ...I know they're both projects but I like Turner better than Zinger.

Porzingis fits the DL mold of player. He could play well next to Gobert and Favors at PF. You'd hate to give up Hood but if someone would accept the 12 + Hood...that's tempting. Players with Porzingis' length, athleticism, and shot come around once every five years...if that.

Not knowing what we know now. You would have to take what was thought of them before the draft. Burke/McCollum/MCW are all probably later than Grant and Payne this year. Hard to say though, cause Burke was dang good in college, but is just so short and slow for an NBA PG. Booker is well above McCollum as a shooter as well. Frank and Olynyk are comparable, but I don't remember Olynyk getting near the hype of Frank the Tank. Adams was nowhere near the prospect that WCS/Turner are.

I could be having selective memory, but I just don't see any of the 2013 I listed getting drafted before 15.

Admittedly, I valued Burke much more then than I do Grant now, but that was on an individual basis for the Jazz and current needs. I think they probably stack pretty similar in terms of how they project before the draft.

2013 was definitely a weak college draft. I don't think it's possible to rate the guys now.

I'd rather trade 2 future firsts than Hood right now.

I don't think we should include Hood in any draft day trades unless we are moving up to the top-5. Call me a homer all you want, but if it's only to move up 3-5 spots, it's not worth it.

You are a homer... And so am I.

Ford's new mock draft:

He has us picking Myles Turner, with Kaminsky, Portis, Oubre still available:

Cameron Payne rocketing up the draft board...

Larry Bird is promising to shake things up this summer and a big target will be in the middle. Assuming they can move Roy Hibbert in a trade, they'll have needs for a mobile big man. Both Myles Turner and Kaminsky could make some sense for them. But I am hearing lots of buzz out of Indiana that the team loves Payne and wants to pair Paul George with a quick, young, high basketball IQ point guard who can get to the basket. Payne has been rocketing up NBA team boards after declaring for the draft. A number of rival GMs believe the Thunder might already have promised to take him at No. 14. But I'm not sure he gets there anymore. Even teams as high as the Kings, Nuggets and Hornets are now showing interest.

I'm not sure Hood's value is as high as it should be. He was really good at the end of the year. He also improved on defense tremendously. I remember watching summer league thinking this guy was going to get lit up by everyone. I'm not sure he's a plus defender but he's not bad. He has a high care factor.

I do wonder if he holds up... the foot stuff scares me. I'd love to get a guy like SJ in part as Hood insurance.
