Following potential 2015 draftees

So Wade is asking for 20 million a year from the Heat. It looks like they'll let him walk and will be targeting a wing for sure. Either Johnson or Oubre.
Luckily Jazzfanz are smart and voted Oubre to the Heat in the poll.

It's crazy how many mocks have WCS going before Mario and Mudiay. That's hilarious. There is no way I would take WCS over those guys. Let alone even in the top 10.

WCS does not impress me.

There always seems to be one guy in the top 10 where I'm like, "him"? WCS is the 2015 version.

If the Jazz draft Portis at 12, I'd say there's a 40% chance they're trading him to Detroit with another asset for the #8 pick.

Portis just feels like a Detroit Pistons kind of player, and he's working out for them.

A benefit from trading Burks to move up and grab Mario is that we reset the clock on retaining the rights to an asset, and he's cheaper.

That's besides the idea that Mario could be a lot better than Burks.

I honestly don't know what to think about Burks. I use to be a huge fan, and was always defending him. But over time he hasn't really grown and improved. He's pretty much the same player. He's great at layups and that's about it. His shooting is eratic, and his defense is terrible. He seems like a guy who could be an all star. But maybe he just doesn't fulfill that potential. He has real concerning holes in his game. He still struggles with free throws for crying out loud.

He shot 44/38/82. He has greatly improved his shooting and had he been healthy he probably shoots 46% overall had he been his usual finishing self thanks to a bum shoulder before he shut it down. So 82% is struggling at ft's??

Elite defenders will always have an impact on the game. Gobert anyone? I can see WCS being a top 5 C. Also Chandler and Jordan come to mind. Many feel he was the missing piece that propelled them to winning a chip. Think WCS has potential as a future DPOY and can change a bad defensive team into an elite defensive team like what Gobert did for Utah once he started getting more minutes.

WCS (and Robert Upshaw to a degree) has the Gobert-factor working for him right now. Teams look at Gobert and Whitehead and see the impact that these young, defensive minded centers have on their team. They try to replicate that in the draft, but likely strike out. I like WCS a lot, but he's no Rudy Gobert. There's a good chance that Rudy gets him over drafted though.

The biggest difference between rudy and WCS other than Rudy being a demigod is drive to be great at basketball. WCS reminds me of AK... Likes basketball but don't think he'll live it. Won't be a bust but I think you'll always want a little more.

I think that's been the knock on WCS...does he WANT to be great?
I don't care if Gobert hits 9 15-ft jumpers in a row or if Locke says he went 4-10. The point is, he's working on his weakness. Rudy is HUNGRY! And when others see Rudy working to get better, they will too. It's contagious; it's a macho thing. Rudy is driving Favors; he's driving Hayward and Burks and Exum.

And I agree. WCS would be the BPA available at #12 if he were to drop (but he won't). As others have pointed out, Gobert and Whiteside have brought back the notion that a good defensive center goes a long ways to making you a good team.
