Following potential 2015 draftees

David Locke has been mentioning in is podcasts that some players may not want to work out for the Jazz. The idea is that if you're a wing, you have to compete with Hayward, Burks and Hood for minutes. If you're a big, you have to compete with Rudy, Favs and Booker. It's a tough task for a rookie to take on.

Anyone know if/when guys like Oubre, Turner, Johnson, Kaminsky and Booker are supposed to work out for the Jazz?

Edit: NVM I just saw the updates to the 2015 Workout thread...

I had a vision that Jazz picked Dekker at 12 and traded future first and second for RJ Hunter in mid-20s.

I'd pick Johnson if both him and Turner are available, but I love Turner's potential. The gap has been getting smaller between those two in my big board... I don't know if my mind would change by draft night.

I'd go Turner. I'm high on his potential. Swing for the fences.

I like Johnson, but I also see some risk there. Offensively, he's a 6'7" guy who benefited from being stronger and a bit quicker than college players. It may not all translate to the pros. All the exciting offensive things Johnson did, I also saw Derrick Williams do at Arizona. Now granted, Johnson may have a better work ethic and motor, but I wonder where Johnson is going to get his points other than spotting up and filling the lane.

I was psyched about the idea of Johnson playing the 4. His skills and versatility could be a real advantage at that position, but he measured an inch or two shorter than I thought he would at the combine. Then I saw Looney footage where it looked like Johnson couldn't deal with Looney's length. I don't think you can put Johnson at the 4 unless you call it small ball, basically.

He's a power-3, probably a better version of Rick Fox pre-injuries, but I'm not 100% convinced he adds a new dimension and impact to what we have.

Does he have enough shot creation, shot making, passing, rebounding to be a starter for the Jazz? It's not a given.

This.

He's 6'6", all the measurements are clearly available...be accurate. That's why his stock is ultimately dropping.

A lot of people are failing to realize the best part about Johnson's game - he's lock-down. You put him on the best 2-3 and he keeps them in check. I don't think he's Bowen or Artest good (defensively) but he's in the same realm as MKG and perhaps Tony Allen (Allen is shorter but I digress).
