Following potential 2015 draftees

The premise that Turner would've been drafted much higher if he went to Kentucky is absurd - He had a scholarship offer from UK, from Coach Cal himself. Duke offered too..

It's on him for choosing to stay in-state and play in a platoon with 3 other serviceable bigs, all of whom were already established at Texas.

Some on this board *cough* *cough* called Turner out for choosing a path of little resistance the day he committed..

In March when KAT was confirming his separation from the pack, Turner was having some of his worst games.

I think it does help that he was on a superior team.

Myles Turner (7' center... and my somewhat sleeper pick to go #1 in the draft)

It is his fault for going to Texas though.

Watching that video... gives me ideas like a fast break where Rudy runs to the rim and if it stagnates, the second wave comes and... Turner from 3. Trailing big that shoots 3s. I think it can be fun. 3 rim protectors on the floor. You know how opponents start going in the paint the moment Favs and Rudy go to the bench? Well imagine 48 minutes of constant rim protection and terror for the opponents in the paint.

Turner isn't as physically ready and isn't as polished as Towns. For crying out loud, he's learning how to run.

He may have a lot of upside, but he's a few years away, and there's some risk there. That's why he's not in the top tier.

Assuming the Jazz stay in their current range, I think they *should* draft Turner or Oubre.

If they decided to draft Looney or maybe Booker I'd understand. They're mixing need into the decision.

If they draft Dekker, I would just accept that they know more than I do.

Back in 2010, there were two players I wanted the Jazz to draft in the first round. One was Paul George and the other was Hassan Whiteside. I like Turner and Oubre in this draft for pretty similar reasons, I guess.

Great post. I agree 100%. I would be a little perplexed if they took Lyles or Portis, but in the end I would support them.

Listening to SVP and Russillo the other day, Russillo said he'd talked to a scout he respects a ton who said KAT is the best shooter in the draft. Not best shooting big, but best overall shooter.

Curious what PKM would say about that. Based on how he shot FTs, it may not be that far fetched. Just because he wasn't asked to shoot the 3 at UK doesn't mean he couldn't, I guess.

Did I miss an "Official Jazz Workout Thread" for this draft with clips/quotes/tweets about guys we've had in so far?

Q: What potential top-ten pick are you least confident will put together a successful NBA career?

A: Probably Kelly Oubre. Basically, it's up to Kelly how good he wants to be, and some have questioned that drive. His frame and athleticism is absolutely terrific, but his skills really leave a lot to be desired at this point. His first step got him by in college, but he needs to work on his ball-handling and ability to finish at the rim. Also, his jump shot was solid this year over a small sample size, but he needs to iron out his mechanics and repeat the shot every time.

There's just a lot that can go wrong with him if he doesn't work as hard as he needs to. Having said that, if he does work hard, he has as much potential as all but about five guys in this entire draft. He can do things athletically that a lot of people can't even begin to dream of, and with the way the NBA is going his positional versatility could be tremendously valuable. But there is definitely uncertainty regarding his game, which gives me slightly less confidence in him than others.
