Very good question.

Gobert the better rim protector, but WCS the better defender away from the basket.. as well as better running the floor and ball handler.

Spades.

But I would probably take Gobert as the safer choice.

In your list you have WCS at 7, a position we very reasonably might end up at. Would you take WCS with us having Gobert already? This is the reason I don't have him on my draft board. I would probably put him in top 10 for other teams, but we already have Gobert, so... I decided to skip him.

It depends on who else is available, but generally speaking, yeah.. I would probably choose someone else.

Yah, I probably didn't express myself well... I meant if the guys you had before him on the list were all already taken...
 
I'd take easily WCS over Gobert. WCS moves pretty well off the ball, you pair him with someone who's got court vision(Exum has the vision and length to find teammates at will) and he can develop into the kind of Tyson Chandler/DeAndre Jordan guy. Good hands, good timing in the lane, good mobility for the size to match up defensively after switches, in the pick and roll and around the rim.

Gobert has a higher ceiling if he figures it out, but the likelihood he does is way lower IMO.

If there is an underachieving team already full of talent in the middle of the top10 this team might try to trade back in order to pick up WCS around 8-11. Boston might take a look at him depending on what their plans are. He could really help them and his age pairs good with Rondo as does his skillset.

You said I was thinking much better than I did. Regarding WCS's more well-rounded defensive game.

I think with Hayward as a max player settling in at small forward, and with both Burks and Hood showing potential, the Jazz will look to draft a mobile and versatile PF before they draft a defensive wing like Johnson or Winslow. If Winslow or Hezonja look like major talents that the Jazz fall in love with, I could see them going this route. Otherwise, I think Looney, McCullough, Turner and Porzingis are the guys outside the top 3 the Jazz will hone in on, with WCS possibly getting some consideration if he shows developing skills.

Probably right. But Hayward also has an opt-out in 3 years and is an UFA. Jazz could look to draft a replacement. If Hayward re-signs, then we either have an asset to trade or a great back-up. I do think though, that a PF like McCullough or Porzingis could be a great addition.

Alarming article, IMO.
Seems like he just doesn't have the hunger. But good to read he's a great guy and also has other interests. Obviously more talented than Bradley ever was, but I could see him taking that kind of path: a good NBA career, but a disappointment relative to his draft position and given his potential.

Probably why I'd vote Gobert over WCS. Rudy has the drive. He WANTS more PT; he WANTS to be a starter.

WCS is a completely different player this year. He turned the corner.
