I agree Johnson would be a great selection. But he might not be around when Utah picks. Jazz are in 7th right now, but only a game out of 10th. Johnson could go as high as 4th. Hard to see the draft order not being NY, Philly and Minnesota (in some order), followed by Boston (in full tank mode) and LA (going to shut down Kobe). I think the next group of teams (Utah, Orlando, Detroit, Indiana and Charlotte) are a toss-up from 6-10.
Jazz go with BPA. Why does Porzingis mess with the future of Favors and Gobert? Jazz need three good bigs. They also need 3 good wings. If Porzingis is a decent stretch-4 he replaces Booker in 1 more year as Trevor's contract expires. Yes, it would nice to have another quality wing, too. Whoever that is pushes Hood or Ingles down in the rotation. Jazz could even take a center so Favors can play all his minutes at the 4. Imagine WCS coming in behind Gobert!
I just want the Jazz to get BPA. If that player is good enough to take somebody else's spot, then that makes us a better team. If an asset is used in a trade, that potentially makes us a better team. About the only player I'd consider "untouchable" is Gobert. Favors, Burke and Hayward have all mentioned how great it is to have him on the court. He makes everyone better. He's akready showing he can be an elite defensive force, and his offensive abilities are growing. But everyone else in tradeable. Even Favors or Hayward if they give any indication they'll go elsewhere once they become free agents.
