Following potential 2015 draftees

we are destined to draft russell

I can only hope.

I wonder who the Jazz would draft if we got the #1 pick, Okafor or Russell? Those 2 seem like the only #1 options at this point. No way anyone takes Mudiay or Towns at #1. Mudiay hasn't proven enough and Towns is a huge project.

Wowzers, you know how they talk about the next Jordan?... Kobe, Lebron, Durant, Wiggins, etc....

This dude looks like the next in line along the Ginobili, Roy, Harden lineage.

There's a ton of college basketball time left. Russell could slide back down as far as 9 imo. Is it likely to happen? Hell no. But crazier ****'s happened.

Probably. At this point I would box Okafor and Russell 1&2, in some order.

I've seen Mudiay play 0 times in my life but it's hard to imagine he's more impressive than this cat.

Good point, right now we're in the eighth or ninth spot in the draft. I'm guessing we'll win around the same amount in the second half as in the first, so we may end up in the same spot. It would be great to get either Mudiay or Russell though.

You draft Okafor and there's zero hesitation. Gobert starts and Okafor plays 20 mins/per as a rookie. Then you let the trade offers come in - someone would throw a big package together to get either one.

As for the draft, I'm still secretly hoping the Jazz get WCS. Play Gobert 30 mins and WCS 18. That would be quite the rotation at the 5! Gives Utah a legitimate 2-man rotation at every position.

Obviously WCS isn't the ideal choice (meaning, you wouldn't take him #1, for example), but I love how he can guard all 5 positions.. srsly. He is an elite defensive player that doesn't come around often.

The only reason I'd be down with drafting WCS is this. ^^^

It's the only time I can think of that the Jazz would have 2 elite defenders since I've been a fan. I don't know that he'll ever be an proficient offensive player (still have hope for Gobert though) but the idea of being able to put a defensive lineup of Gobert, Favors, WCS, Hayward and Exum out on the court when you simply have to get a stop is intriguing.

There's no sustainable offense there, but damn.

As far as Russell, I still think he ends up 3rd behind Okafor and Towns. Bigs (even project ones) simply rate higher than guards. Wiggins is a rare talent and Embiid would have gone 1st if he'd been healthy.

Right. I'm not talking about the lottery spots. I'm assuming the Jazz don't get a top-3 pick. But I doubt WCS is around when the Jazz pick. Utah is only 2 games out of the #12 position. Of the non-playoff teams, they obviously won't catch OKC or New Orleans. But everyone else - except Detroit - has been in free fall mode. I think the Jazz will finish with a better record than all the EC lottery teams AND catch Sacramento and Denver.

So who do we draft in the #10-#12 range? Does that bring guys like Lyles and Looney in to play?
