Following potential 2017 draftees...

How much effect does a great workout how on teams decisions? Lessort killed it today and Swanigan didn't.

I think it generally doesn't have much effect, but i think Lyles workout with the team went a long way in causing the Jazz to take him. the liked his 3 point shooting against no defense, his feel for the game/passing during scrimmages and then there was the infamous balance test.

I think it depends in part on how much the Jazz already know about a player. Rudy Gobert apparently turned heads in a big way during his workout. Olivier Hanlan looked good in his workout. The Jazz had been scouting Lyles for a few years, so the workout was just part of the equation with him.

Yep, Walt Perrin said he thought Trey Lyles was going to be a better NBA player than Karl Anthony Towns before Lyles played at Kentucky. Which actually made me not hate the pick as much as I did initially.

But it's things like this that make me really question Perrin's ability to judge talent.

Of everyone projected to be drafted who had the highest 3 pt %

Frank Mason from Kansas probably. 47.1% on 4.8 3 point attempts per game. Some big guys have higher percentages but it's because they average less than 0.5 attempts per game

I see high bust potential with both from where they are expected to be drafted.

Not sure anyone picked in the 20s can be considered a bust... I mean most of those guys don't make it.

I think if a team is trying to decide between 2 or more players in the same tier, then workouts can factor in to who they prefer. Otherwise, I doubt they put a lot of weight on individual workouts.

Not surprising seeing the over-reaching on Jackson for obvious reasons.
A couple comps have been holarity.
