What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

There's 3 seemingly legit pro prospects surfaced on the radar in the International crop of 2001 that I'ma be keeping a watchful eye on moving forward.

Mario Nakic - 6'5" swingman with guard skills, seems like a better prospect than Korkmaz, much stronger build. I'd venture to say he's gonna be one of the best Serbian born wings we've seen. Looks like he'd be a 5-star prospect in the HS class of 2019 ez..

Theo Maledon - 6'3" French PG with great physical gifts, nice speed and acceleration. Looks like he'd easily be a top-35 type in the class of 2019..

Essome Miyem Nwal - 6'10 C thats rapidly growing. He can shoot ft's runs very well, has a great frame, lots of upside. His sister Nwal-Endene won a Silver medal with the womens French basketball team this past Olympics she's 28 and been a decorated pro for 10 years. . Looks like he'd be top-50 in 2019 with plenty of room to rise..

The label of most athletic big in the draft is now up for grabs since Williams is gone.

Will be very interested to see how he measures there.. Jarrett Allen probably his stiffest competition for that label.

2 weeks til the Hoops Summit. Can't wait. I'ma be rooting for the international squad for sure.

I'd say Hartenstein is a fluid athlete.
The event would've been more fun if Ntilikina was there. But I understand why he isn't. His draft stock is much more established as he's seen more pro minutes this year against better competition.
Plus his team started the national competition really below expectations and wants to finish strong before the playoffs. Missing 3 games because of an overseas showcase that won't help prop up his stock most likely is a huge risk for the team that has established a role as a spot up guy in their domestic league play.
He'd still have contributed big time to the quality of play for the international team.

I'm hearing from one of my buddies who really keeps his ear to the ground in North Carolina (he seems to know people adjacent to Giles camp) bout the local players, basically confirming what PKM posted weeks back, that Giles might not be in this draft..

Word is he's feeling iffy, and doesnt like the perception of him or his draft position...

Marquese Bolden's AAU Coach/ Trainer is apparently tweeting a bunch of negative Duke/ Coach K stuff.. Some are concluding he's gonna x-fer out.

Cam Oliver stands to benefit from Williams pulling out. Same type of skillsets, Oliver 2" shorter and obviously not as long, but still very long for a PF his size. has shown more 3pt range

Turns 21 in a few months.

The stage is set for him to go flying up draft boards.

He can handle the ball on the break and he's 7', blocks shots and built like a house at 18 (almost 19)..
Robert Williams could've very well been the first big off the board..

PG_AB would you trade Favors for a pick that would land Williams?

Yeah very quickly, with the way the contracts line up it's a no-brainer.. (guessing u mean in the 2017 draft) That move also would clear some extra capspace..

Ideally u'd pair that move with stealing RFA JaMychal Green on a front-loaded 2 year deal with a player option for a 3rd..

U can also take another sort of SF/PF, PF/SF/ PF, PF/C, C/PF type with the later picks too.. Lets say D.J Wilson.. and Paceniks in the 2nd rd..

PF - Green, Lyles, Williams/Wilson, Hayward/JJ
C - Gobert, Williams, Paceniks

Is damn viable and half of them are just scratching the surface.. I really think the shotblocking ultimately would get even better with that sort of lineup. Green blocks shots, Williams is an insane shotblocker, Paceniks blocks shots and so does D.J. Wilson..

That team leads the league in blocks ez once they're all settled in.. Williams needs polish.

Who is the lowest ranked prospect you'd deal Favors for?

He should at least be evaluated by the NBA to see what his stock is. I don't know why he would decide this fast. He's a likely lottery pick. That's a huge risk staying.

There is probably some advantages to not doing that. Keep your skillset a little bit under-wraps so people can't see everything.
