What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

I'm in love with Donovan Mitchell from his interview. What a classy, smart kid. I'd be happy to cheer for him on my team... hell even if he goes elsewhere he seems like a likeable guy who's easy to root for.

Mitchell is like a more athletic Avery Bradley. You can play him off the ball and a bit on the ball. He's got enough shift and athleticism to create his own shots. The Jazz sorely need someone who can do that. That way, the Jazz don't have to reach for a guy like Shelvin Mack to come in and provide an offensive boost.

Also, they could certainly push it until the trade deadline of the 3rd year, but then you risk having to give up picks because teams know you are desperate.

Mitchell said in his interview that he's planning to work out with OKC. His agent is putting him through workouts close to our range. Hence, not much fuel for trade speculation. So I'm wrong on the workout showing the Jazz have a potential trade up.

I'm starting to cool on this draft overall. I'm not seeing a clear difference-making starter outside the top 10 - 12 picks. We're looking at a role player in the 20s.

  1. Markelle Fultz
  2. Josh Jackson
  3. Jayson Tatum
  4. DeAaron Fox
  5. Lonzo Ball
  6. Dennis Smith Jr.
  7. Malik Monk
  8. Jonathan Issac
  9. Lauri Markkanen
  10. Frank Ntilikina
  11. Zach Collins
  12. Donovan Mitchell

Outside of this, Jonathan Jeanne has upside, OG has some upside, Bam has some upside, and Kurucs might have a bit of upside. Giles might have upside. I don't expect any of those guys to fall to 24.

I disagree... even if we come away with a Rodney Hood level player who can contribute soon it is a huge win for us. Plenty of guys that can become decent starters and a few that will certainly do more.

I'd be happy with them just doing it this year to help keep Hayward around.

Lmao what did you expect? If you can get a role player in the 20s you are lucky.
