Why?

He is sturdy but may struggle laterally. May not be able to be much more than a spot up guy against wing defenders.

I'm a fan of his and would like to see us get him, but there are certainly questions.

PF types in our range I'd rather give Trey Lyles PT to next year... in no particular order:

- Leaf
- Wilson
- Kuzma
- Oliver
- Bolden
- Bell
- Lydon
- Semi
- Swanigan (although he is really going to have to be a 5)

I wonder if Burks and Lyles could get us Lin from BKN. Lin is good enough to be a starter if need be... not so good that we can't bring Hill back though. I doubt they trade Lin because he chose them and it'd be a bad look unless he wanted to make a move. Show the nets Lyles balance beam scores.

His agility numbers were good at the combine. Top 10. Better than Diallo, Frank Jackson and several other guards. And that was at 241 pounds. If he works on his technique moving laterally shouldn't be a problem.

I do agree though that there are things he needs to improve. His shot selection and decision making isn't very good at times when I've seen him play. And he needs more moves off the dribble imo. He relies a little too much on his strength and straight line drives to the basket at this stage. All the questions that I have about him are things that he can work to improve though. That's a positive. I like him a lot.

I put less stock in athletic testing than what actually happens on court... it can be improved and all of these guys have warts... that is a wart I can work with. Put him in the Joe Ingles school of smart defense and help him figure it out.

He may actually have to shed a little body weight to get some additional speed. Would need to see it on the NBA court before making that diagnoses, but he may be a little tweenerish until he figures out how to fit... much like Jae Crowder did.

Adding Burks to the deal does nothing to add to the value. It decreases it.

More Trey Lyles depression today... there are like 10 stretchy/combo PF prospects in our range that I'd rather give development time to.

If we had Booker instead of Lyles we'd be the #2 team in the west.

We could be drafting in the 2nd round this year and get a better prospect than Lyles.

That along with Burks instead of Leonard, are two epic misses on Lindsey's end. Both those players would have changed this franchise into a contender team. Instead, we got one broken player who gave us maybe 1-2 years of backup mins and another bust. Lyles is a huge bust. Can't even contribute at all.

Burks was a Kevin O'Connor pick if I remember correctly.

The only thing Lindsey had to do with Leonard was participating in trading for him... as he was with San Antonio at the time.

But Leonard is a real sore spot for me. I was wanting to draft him 6th prior to our pick jumping to 3, then baffled when we passed on him at 12 or wherever. More pissed when SA traded for him.
