I'm so-so on Bates-Diop. I'd like to do better. If we can't get a super-athletic wing, I'd be okay taking Jontay Porter.
Made up my mind. I want Musa. 56.9% from 2, 36.4% from international 3, 6’8”, really good handle, imo a really good frame, he’s just 18, and given his foreign status, I’d like his ability to fit in. I also like his body language on the court. I don’t see any ego or red flags.
Simons has been my guy for a while. I value off the dribble shooting a lot (probably overvalue it). He has a kind of strange low release, but it's really quick. He also has incredible balance, especially on coming around screens, pullups, and floaters, and we all know how much Lindsey loves his P R O P R I O C E P T I O N. I think if Snyder gets his hands on him, he'll be a decent defender since he has good feet, lateral quickness, and balance. He's got quick hands too. The natural ability is evident, he just has the typical young player mistakes like lapses of attention (keep him away from AB) and effort. Snyder and co can mold him into a good defender.
I'm not sure what his measurables are, but he's got that kind of Dejounte Murray body where there isn't even a euphemism for his body composition. I don't think you can even call him "wiry" or "strong for his size," he's just weak at this point. His frame isn't very wide either, so he struggles finishing through contact. You can see flashes of advanced finishing moves though, like those wrong-footed layups and a nice floater game. We saw how quickly Donovan figured out these moves, and Simons is farther ahead than Mitchell was at the same age at these things. But Mitchell is built like a linebacker and can finish through contact way better than Simons (though Mitchell kind of struggled with this in college and improved it rapidly). While Mitchell wasn't afraid of contact, Simons shies away and opts for floaters and fadeaways.
I'm just kind of rambling, but I think a backcourt with him and Mitchell (and Dante!) would be electric and, if nothing else, really entertaining. If we don't get Simons, I hope he becomes a good player because he looks like a guy that could just be a "good stats bad team" player, or worse, in a Malik Monk situation where some hardass coach doesn't play him. I'd be scared to pick this kid in the 12-16 range if I were a GM with millions of dollars and my job on the line, but since this opinion doesn't affect me, I'd gladly take him!

Just found this link someone posted about Musa. Updated info on him back in December.
Does the league in which Musa plays suck?
I've seen Musa play more than a handful of games in that same timeframe and he's destroyed in every showing, completely dominates the game, i've never been unimpressed..
Vs competition his age his skill set is like lebron's tbh. Best case-scenario I could see him putting up a stat line something like 20-5-5...
His knocks (other than comp I guess) are t-rex arms and his defense. But evidently, his work ethic is off the charts so with good coaching (and a good attitude), I see no reason he can't be a good defender. He'd be great learning for a half year and then getting burn on our second unit as one of, if not thee, main offensive options.
