Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Very sad... g league fodder for the next 2-3 years.

I reserve the right to put him in my top 15 doe... if reports of him being a hard-worker/gym rat come out. There is room on my top 15 list for everybody... except Grayson Allen (who I think could be good, but he is just so douchey).

I'm falling more and more in love with Huerter by the minute.

The kid can pass, and rain down 3s. I want to see him on our squad so bad next year.

KBD, Hutchison and Jerome Robinson would each give the Jazz a legitimate scoring option at the 4, 3 and 2, respectively. They have to be appealing, and one or two of them should be available at #21.

Kevin Huerter looks to be the best floor spacer and pure shooter with enough size at the wing and a quick enough release to get looks off--e.g., Kyle Korver if not Klay Thompson. That has to be appealing as well. He can also create off the dribble and should be passable on defense.

Anfernee Simons and Josh Okogie would be developmental prospects. They have a nice combination of athleticism and potential, but it's not clear to me that their upside is so great that it justifies the risk and the wait to develop them--especially when there are so many other quality prospects on the board. A player who is already 21 can step right in to the same development arc and timeframe as Mitchell, Exum and Gobert (to a lesser extent). To me, this would make them appealing as very late 1st-round or early 2nd-round picks.

Elie Okobo and Khyri Thomas both have potential as high-level combo-guards, but I'm not seeing enough star potential to set them apart from the others right now.

I don't know what to think about Dzanan Musa. He looks like a liability on defense to me, and I wonder about his ability to hold up against elite, physical defense. However, if he's really more awesome than everyone else, I guess you take him.

This is a very strong draft for wings when you consider that Musa, Huerter, Hutchison, Evans, Frazier, J. Robinson and KBD could all be available after #15.

damn! I think he needs to be in the right situation, but I think he could thrive with us. he has so many pluses.

I guess we both just hope Huerter is the guy so both of us can be happy right?

KBD I think is my #1 reasonable target if we stay at #21. I like Heurter... if we had a guy using off ball screens like that it would open some things up. Putting multiple pressure points on the defense.

Again... I'd like to get a second pick in the 20s or 30s... lots of good prospects.

The thing I worry about with Huerter is... I had scarily similar feelings about RJ Hunter as I do about Huerter. I loved his shooting and I loved his passing/playmaking on the move, too... and I had similar worries about his defense. This is the way he fails in the league - the problems with his speed and wiggle on ball leak into his ability to get open off-ball, thus he doesn't get many good shots - %s drop and he cannot handle any position on D so he becomes unplayable and is out of the league.

Yeah, but Hunter was never actually a great shooter. He also has a lot thinner frame than Hueter and a weirder release. Also was a high usage college player and couldnt adjust to having the ball less in the pros.

He was pretty good for his first 2 years, then his %s dropped when he had to take even larger load. You are right he had a slighter frame though... Huerter is also a bit taller.
